Purpose: Lung cancer is the second-most widely diagnosed cancer and is also the second leading contributor cancer mortality in Vietnam. With limited formal caregiving systems, family caregivers are essential in providing care for lung cancer patients. Automated Detection of Gibbon Calls From Passive Acoustic Monitoring Data Using Convolutional Neural Networks in the "Torch for R" Ecosystem.

Automated detection of acoustic signals is crucial for effective monitoring of sound-producing animals and their habitats across ecologically relevant spatial and temporal scales. Recent advances in deep learning have made these approaches more accessible. However, few deep learning approaches can be implemented natively in the R programming environment; approaches that run natively in R may be more accessible for ecologists.

Circadian rhythms and the use of transfer learning for critically endangered crested argus in the Central Highlands of Vietnam: the implications for conservation.

Understanding the circadian rhythm of the calling behaviour of wild animals can guide efforts to monitor and conserve rare and endangered species using sound. Here, we use passive acoustic monitoring to investigate the vocal behaviour of the crested argus () in Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve, Gia Lai Province, Vietnam. We had three main objectives: (i) to investigate the performance of BirdNET transfer learning for automated detection of crested argus calls; (ii) to investigate the environmental predictors of crested argus calling; and (iii) to qualitatively investigate seasonal patterns of calling.

Psychiatric Medication Treatment, Concurrent Substance Use, and Subsistence Difficulty Among People Who Inject Drugs with Diagnosed Mental Health Disorders in Los Angeles and Denver.

Background: Limited literature exists on how concurrent substance use and difficulty meeting basic needs impact recent psychiatric treatment among people who inject drugs (PWID) with diagnosed mental health disorders in the U.S. This study assessed the prevalence of taking current psychiatric medication treatment, and its association with concurrent substance use and subsistence difficulty.

Examining the relations between psychosocial and caregiving factors with mental health among Vietnamese family caregivers of hospitalized lung cancer patients.

This study assessed the severity of mental health concerns, including depression and anxiety, and identified its association with psychosocial and caregiving factors. A cross-sectional study involved 213 family caregivers of lung cancer patients was conducted between June 2023 and August 2024 at a general provincial hospital in Northern Vietnam. Mental health concerns, caregiving challenges (burden, preparedness, and readiness for surrogate decision-making) and psychosocial factors (quality of life and social support) were measured.

Exploring the magnitude and predictors of the long-term psychological impact of COVID-19 on frontline healthcare workers in Vietnam: a multi-center, cross-sectional study.

Background: The detrimental impacts of COVID-19 on the mental well-being of frontline healthcare workers (HCWs) have been well studied. However, the long-term trajectory of their mental well-being remains relatively unexplored. Alcohol misuse is a significant health concern among gay, bisexual, same-gender-loving, and other men who have sex with men (MSM). Yet, little is known about the severity and predictors of alcohol misuse among self-reported young Black MSM. This study aimed to identify patterns of and factors associated with alcohol misuse in a sample of young Black MSM living in New York City.

Monitoring populations is critical for understanding how they respond to anthropogenic disturbance and for management of protected areas. The use of passive acoustic monitoring can improve monitoring efforts as it allows for collection of data on vocal animals at spatial and temporal scales that are difficult using only human observers. Study protocol for type II hybrid implementation-effectiveness trial of strategies for depression care task-sharing in community health stations in Vietnam: DEP Project.

Background: It is not clear what the most effective implementation strategies are for supporting the enactment and sustainment of depression care services in primary care settings. This type-II Hybrid Implementation-Effectiveness study will compare the effectiveness of three system-level strategies for implementing depression care programs at 36 community health stations (CHSs) across 2 provinces in Vietnam.

Methods: In this cluster-randomized controlled trial, CHSs will be randomly assigned to one of three implementation conditions: (1) Usual Implementation (UI), which consists of training workshops and toolkits; (2) Enhanced Supervision (ES), which includes UI combined with bi-weekly/monthly supervision; and (3) Community-Engaged Learning Collaborative (CELC), which includes all components of ES, combined with bi-monthly province-wide learning collaborative meetings, during which cross-site learning and continuous quality improvement (QI) strategies are implemented to achieve better implementation outcomes.

Universal health insurance program for people living with HIV in Vietnam: an ambitious approach.

International funding for HIV treatment and prevention drastically decreased when Vietnam transitioned from a low-income to a lower-middle-income country in 2010. Vietnam has attempted to fill the funding gap from both public and private sources to cover antiretroviral therapy (ART) treatment. However, policies that enable social health insurance to pay for ART treatment-related costs often exclude people living with HIV (PLHIV) without appropriate government documents from accessing the health insurance-funded ART program.

Self-Determination Theory and Accountant Employees' Psychological Wellbeing: The Roles of Positive Affectivity and Psychological Safety.

This study investigates the influence of self-determination motivations on accountant employees' psychological wellbeing with the mediating role of positive affectivity and the moderating role of psychological safety. Multivariate analysis and structural equation modeling are used to analyze a three-way time-lagged sample data of 391 accountant employees. Results indicate that positive affectivity positively mediates the relationship between extrinsic motivation and psychological wellbeing and between intrinsic motivation and psychological wellbeing.

Monitoring occurrence, extinction, and colonization probabilities for gibbon populations.
