Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by deficits in social communication and interaction, and repetitive behaviors. Males are three times more likely to be diagnosed with ASD than females, and sex-dependent alterations in behavior and communication have been reported both in clinical and animal research. Animal models are useful for understanding ASD-related manifestations and their associated neurobiological mechanisms.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a severe neurological disorder and the leading cause of dementia, affecting millions globally. Dendrimers are remarkable organic macromolecules characterised by a globular, well-defined and highly branched structure featuring a high number of tuneable functional groups on their surface. Different types of dendrimers have demonstrated antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-amyloidogenic properties, showing their potential as powerful nanodrugs in AD.

Spectroscopic and microscopic techniques show that the co-assembly of positively charged low-molecular-weight IKVAV-PA with oppositely charged high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid (HA) triggers the formation of ordered β-sheet structures denoting a one-dimensional nanofibrous network.
