Enhanced Photon-Pair Generation from a van der Waals Metasurface.

Quantum photon pairs play a pivotal role in many quantum applications. Metasurfaces, two-dimensional arrays of nanostructures, have been studied intensively to enhance and control pair generation via spontaneous parametric downconversion (SPDC). Van der Waals (VdW) layered materials have emerged as promising candidates for nonlinear materials in quantum light sources, owing to their high nonlinear susceptibility and compatibility with on-chip integration.

[Progress in the application of drug-induced sleep endoscopy in pediatric OSA].

Drug-induced sleep endoscopy （DISE） is an endoscopic examination performed under conditions similar to human physiological sleep induced by drugs. In recent years, its clinical application has become increasingly widespread. This article reviews the research progress on the indications, anesthesia, and outcome determination of pediatric DISE, providing a basis for the application of pediatric DISE.

[Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation for residual OSAHS with hypercapnia: a case report].

This case report outlines the treatment of an 11-year-old female who underwent adenotonsillectomy six years ago for snoring but experienced postoperative inefficacy. Her symptoms worsened two weeks before readmission, with increased snoring and sleep apnea, disabling her from lying down to sleep. She was readmitted on December 1, 2023, and diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome and hypercapnia.

[Analyzing the reasons for and prevention of serious complications after general anesthesia in children with obstructive sleep apnea].

To explore the causes and preventive measures of respiratory arrest following general anesthesia in children with obstructive sleep apnea （OSA）, in order to enhance the safety of OSA surgeries under general anesthesia. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical and follow-up data of four pediatric cases that experienced respiratory arrest after general anesthesia for OSA at Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University from March 2020 to March 2022. All four children exhibited varying degrees of decreased blood oxygen saturation, cyanosis, and loss of consciousness after OSA surgery under general anesthesia, with one case experiencing respiratory and cardiac arrest.

[Application of minimally invasive surgery for pediatric otorhinolaryngology diseases].

In recent years, minimally invasive technology has been at the forefront of advancing various disciplines due to its unique advantages. With the development of endoscopic techniques, low-temperature plasma technology, and balloon dilation methods, the application of minimally invasive surgery in pediatric otolaryngology has increased significantly in clinical practice. The primary objective of minimally invasive techniques is to preserve normal anatomical structures as much as possible, reduce tissue damage associated with surgery, lower surgical risks, accelerate postoperative recovery, and achieve surgical outcomes that are comparable to or even better than those obtained through conventional procedures.

Hemorrhage risk after coblation tonsillectomy in Chinese pediatric: a multicenter, prospective, observational cohort study.

Objectives: The study aimed to assess the incidence of post-coblation tonsillectomy hemorrhage (PCTH) and identify associated risk factors in a pediatric Chinese population.

Methods: This prospective, multicenter cohort study, conducted over 17 months, included 8854 pediatric patients who underwent coblation tonsillectomy across 15 research centers in China. Patient data were collected through an Electronic Data Capture (EDC) system.

Nonlinear Chiral Metasurfaces Based on Structured van der Waals Materials.

Nonlinear chiral photonics explores the nonlinear response of chiral structures, and it offers a pathway to novel optical functionalities not accessible through linear or achiral systems. Here we present the first application of nanostructured van der Waals materials to nonlinear chiral photonics. We demonstrate the 3 orders of magnitude enhancement of the third-harmonic generation from hBN metasurfaces driven by quasi-bound states in the continuum and accompanied by strong nonlinear circular dichroism at the resonances.

Application of bidirectional telemedicine in home CPAP for children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.

Background: Traditional telemedicine follow-up proves unsuitable for home continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy in children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). Accompanying advancements in mobile internet, this study explores the feasibility and effectiveness of a mobile communication and remote monitoring system as a novel bidirectional telemedicine approach to enhance adherence to home CPAP in children with OSAS.

Methods: A prospective cohort utilizing bidirectional telemedicine follow-up from January to December 2022 (TM) was compared with a retrospective cohort receiving conventional phone follow-up from August 2018 to December 2021 (CP).

High-Efficiency Ag-Modified ZnO/g-CN Photocatalyst with 1D-0D-2D Morphology for Methylene Blue Degradation.

Photocatalysts with different molar ratios of Ag-modified ZnO to g-CN were prepared through an electrostatic self-assembly method and characterized through techniques such as X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The resulting Ag-ZnO/g-CN photocatalysts exhibited a unique 1D-0D-2D morphology and Z-type heterojunction. Moreover, g-CN nanosheets with large layer spacing were prepared using acid treatment and thermal stripping methods.

Modulating endoplasmic reticulum stress attenuates mast cell degranulation.

Objectives: Degranulation of mast cells leads to direct allergic symptoms. The underlying mechanism needs to be explored further. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is involved in the pathogenesis of allergic conditions.

[Two children with late-onset congenital central hypoventilation syndrome].

Two children with late-onset congenital central hypoventilation syndrome were reported, one of whom was male and had no abnormal manifestations after birth, respiratory failure occurs at the age of 1 year and 6 months. After being hospitalized, he was treated with oxygen inhalation and non-invasive ventilation, but carbon dioxide retention could not be corrected. After one month of tracheal intubation, he was failure to wean from ventilator, so tracheostomy was performed.

Multicentre clinical study of haemorrhage after coblation tonsillectomy in children: a prospective study protocol.

Introduction: Post-tonsillectomy haemorrhage (PTH) is the most common and significant life-threatening complication following tonsillectomy, especially in children. Coblation tonsillectomy (CTE) at low temperature is extensively used in China and has gradually replaced conventional tonsil dissection. However, risk of late PTH has been shown to increase with the use of hot instruments.

TAFA4-IL-10 axis potentiate immunotherapy for airway allergy by induction of specific regulatory T cells.

Allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) is the main treatment for allergic diseases. The therapeutic efficacy of AIT has to be improved. Neuropeptides, such as TAFA4, have immune-regulating features.

Noninvasive ventilation via bilevel positive airway pressure improved sleep in a child with congenital central hypoventilation syndrome: A case report.

We report the polysomnography findings of a 2-year-old girl who was previously diagnosed with CCHS and treated with bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) and O supplementation for a year. The girl had convulsions 2 times in the last 10 days. After we replaced her nasal cannula with a nasal mask and adjusted the parameters of the BiPAP, her sleep and ventilation were improved.

[Preliminary study on efficacy and safety of submucosal plasma ablation of inferior turbinate in children with allergic rhinitis complicated with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome].

This study aimed to investigate the long-term clinical efficacy and safety of inferior turbinate submucosal plasma ablation combined with or without tonsillar and adenoid surgery in children with allergic rhinitis（AR） combined with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome（OSAS） who were ineffective after conservative systemic treatment. A total of 43 children with AR complicated with OSAS who met the inclusion criteria among 68 children hospitalized from January 2019 to February 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The data were collected, including the clinical characteristics, surgical methods perioperative management and prevention and treatment of complications.

[Application of multimodal combined surgical strategy in children with intractable laryngeal airway obstruction].

To explore the selection of surgical methods and intraoperative strategies for the treatment of children with intractable laryngeal airway obstruction, and to provide new options for the diagnosis and treatment of children with intractable laryngeal airway obstruction. The clinical data of 12 children with intractable laryngeal airway obstruction treated by our team from January 2005 to December 2021 were retrospective analyzed. All the children were treated with minimally invasive surgery under rigid bronchoscope or suspension laryngoscope combined with electronic endoscope.

Analysis of behavioral problems in children with sleep-disordered breathing and decreased REM sleep.

Objective: REM sleep is known to be closely associated with behavioral problems in children. Our previous study showed that children with decreased REM sleep (REM < 10%) suffered from severe sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). In this study we explored the characteristics of behavioral problems in children with SDB and decreased REM sleep.

[The significance of evaluation of sleep respiration in infants with Pierre Robin sequence].

This study aimed to evaluate the sleep disorders of infants with Pierre Robin sequence by PSG, and to understand the sleep breathing characteristics of them. Seventeen patients with Pierre Robin sequence underwent polysomnography lasting over 7 hours. Sleep apnea and oxygen index was recorded and analyzed.

A20-OVA Nanoparticles Inhibit Allergic Asthma in a Murine Model.
