Background: Biliary tract cancers, though relatively rare, exhibit wide variations in incidence rates across countries. We conducted a population-based cohort study to delineate the epidemiological trends over 25 years in Taiwan.
Methods: Age-standardized incidence and mortality rates of biliary tract cancers were obtained from the Taiwan Cancer Registry.
Objectives: Adrenocortical carcinoma is a rare but devastating endocrine malignancy. Our objective was to outline the academic output and trends through bibliometric analysis.
Methods: We searched the Web of Science Core Collection, PubMed, and Scopus to retrieve publications related to adrenocortical carcinoma using the structured three-step PRISMA methodology.
: Rho signaling plays a role in calcium-regulated cytoskeletal reorganization and cell movement, processes linked to neuronal function and cancer metastasis. , a traditional herbal medicine, can regulate glutamate-induced calcium influx in PC12 cells and influence cell function by modulating neuronal cytoskeleton remodeling via the monoaminergic system and Rho signaling. This study investigates the effects of gastrodin, a key component of , on Rho signaling, cytoskeleton remodeling, and cell migration in B35 and C6 cells.

Purpose: Zinc finger protein 639 (ZNF639) is often found within the overlapping amplicon of , and previous studies suggest its involvement in the pathogenesis of esophageal and oral squamous cell carcinomas. However, its expression and significance in breast cancer remain uncharacterized.
Methods: Immunohistochemical analysis of ZNF639 was performed using tissue microarrays.
Thyroid cancer (THCA) is a prevalent health burden, and unpacking its biological and social determinants is a public health priority. Previous studies have reported inconsistent findings regarding the effects of race and ethnicity on the incidence and presentation of THCA. It remains unclear whether racial differences manifest at the molecular level.

Previous studies have shown that thyroid malignancies can alter the transcriptional oscillations of circadian clock genes. In this study, we screened the expression of core circadian clock genes in thyroid neoplasms and found that CSNK1E, NPAS2, and TIMELESS were upregulated, while ARNTL, CRY1, CRY2, PER2, and RORA were downregulated during the progression and dedifferentiation of thyroid cancer. Immunohistochemical analysis further confirmed an increase in CSNK1E expression parallel to the loss of tumor differentiation.

The objective of this study was to investigate whether it is possible to distinguish between NIFTP and invasive eFV-PTC before surgery. Patients diagnosed with NIFTP and invasive eFV-PTC from 2017 to 2023 were analyzed for biochemical, ultrasonographic, and cytological features.

Methods: Thyroid cancer cell lines were treated with two different GLUT1 inhibitors, STF-31 and BAY-876.

Background: Progress has been observed in the pathophysiology of calcium homeostasis, localization studies, and intraoperative adjuncts in parathyroid surgery. The aim of this study is to gain a comprehensive perspective on the research landscape of parathyroid surgery over time.
Methods: A search of the Web of Science Core Collection was conducted to identify publications on parathyroid surgery from 1985 to 2024.

Air pollution is deemed a human carcinogen and can be linked to certain types of cancer other than lung cancer. The present study aimed to investigate the pollutant-cancer associations in a population-level cohort. We obtained the annual age-standardized incidence rates of 28 different cancer types between 2015 to 2019 from the Taiwan Cancer Registry.

Objective: Radiofrequency ablation is a viable option in the treatment of benign thyroid nodules. Some reports suggest that thermal ablation may also be safe for the management of low-risk thyroid cancer. In this study, we applied transient heat treatment to thyroid cancer cells to mimic clinical scenarios in which insufficient ablation leads to incomplete eradication of thyroid cancer.

In this study, we used certified diesel particulate matter as a proxy for fine particulate matter. Human thyroid cancer cell lines 8505C and TPC-1 were incubated with different concentrations of NIST1650b for 5 days and subjected to functional assays.

Cellular retinoic acid binding protein 1 (CRABP1) participates in the regulation of retinoid signaling. Previous studies showed conflicting results regarding the role of CRABP1 in tumor biology, including protumorigenic and tumor-suppressive effects in different types of cancer. Our bioinformatics analyses suggested that CRABP1 expression was downregulated in thyroid cancer.

Methods: We used the National Taiwan Cancer Registry Database to construct a cohort of patients with parathyroid cancer from January 1, 2004, to December 31, 2019. We compared the incidence of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, atrial fibrillation, coronary heart disease, and heart failure with the general population matched based on a propensity score in a one-to-five fashion.

Purpose: The incidence of thyroid cancer has increased substantially over the past few decades and is partially explained by overdiagnosis. Geographical variations in incidence rates were reported to be related to national development status. This study aimed to gain deeper insights into global thyroid cancer burden by incorporating additional social and economic factors to account for cross-national disparities.

In this study, we aimed to identify potential thyroid cancer biomarkers linked to dendritic cell development and evaluate their prognostic relevance.
Methods: Through a bioinformatics search, we identified the dendrocyte-expressed seven transmembrane protein (DCSTAMP) as a prognostic gene involved in dendritic cell differentiation for thyroid cancer.

Background/aim: A recent study suggested that solute carrier family 35 member A2 (SLC35A2) is related to poor prognosis in patients with breast cancer. SLC35A2 transports uridine diphosphate-galactose from the cytosol to the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi.
Materials And Methods: Immunohistochemical expression of SLC35A2 was evaluated using tissue microarrays.
