Background: Central obesity contributes to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and mortality. The waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) is a practical marker of central obesity across sexes, ages, and ethnicities. However, its association with comprehensive cardiovascular (CV) outcomes in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) remains unclear.

The experimental composite resin groups contained 1, 3, 5, or 10 wt% Sr-PBG. The mechanical, depth of cure, ion release, color analysis, surface gloss, antibacterial, and biocompatibility properties of the experimental groups were compared to those of the control group (100% resin).

Dose-adjusted EPOCH-R (DA-EPOCH-R) produces favorable results in patients with dual MYC and BCL2 rearrangement (double-hit lymphoma, DHL), but there is limited prospective data in both DHL and DLBCL with dual protein overexpression of Myc and Bcl2 (double-expressor lymphoma, DEL). Lenalidomide (LEN) may enhance the response in MYC-driven lymphomas, prompting this investigator-initiated multicenter phase 1/2 study evaluating LEN with DA-EPOCH-R in adults with newly diagnosed DHL and DEL.

Aims: We aimed to establish an independent association between time in tight range (TITR) and the risk of albuminuria, and to compare the relationships of TITR, time in range (TIR), and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) with albuminuria in individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D).
Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed 14-day raw continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data from 615 individuals with T1D. Albuminuria was defined as a spot urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio ≥ 30 mg/g.
Background: The impact of steroid treatment on mortality outcomes in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been widely demonstrated, while its effect on secondary infections, such as bloodstream infections (BSIs), is controversial. Recent studies have reported the survival benefits of using steroids for a standard duration compared to extended use, though their impact on the risk of BSIs remains debated. This study investigated whether extended steroid use is associated with the risk of BSIs and mortality in critically ill patients with COVID-19.

Experimental Approach: The IC values of IN-115314 for JAK1-pSTAT3 and JAK2-pSTAT5 were determined in canine whole blood cells and TF-1 cells.
Aims/hypothesis: This study aimed to compare the ability of time in tight range (TITR) and time in range (TIR) to predict the achievement of typical glucose management indicator (GMI) and HbA targets.
Methods: This cross-sectional analysis included 773 adults with diabetes receiving insulin therapy who visited Samsung Medical Center between June 2019 and December 2023 and wore a Dexcom G6 or FreeStyle Libre continuous glucose monitor for at least 90 days (sensor wear time, ≥70%). A receiver operating characteristic analysis was used to compare the ability of TITR and TIR to predict GMI and HbA targets.
Background: This study aims to identify the status of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) use among individuals with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) in South Korea and to investigate whether age-related disparities exist.
Methods: Individuals with T1DM receiving intensive insulin therapy were identified from the Korean National Health Insurance Cohort (2019-2022). Characteristics of CGM users and non-users were compared, and the prescription rates of CGM and sensor- augmented pump (SAP) or automated insulin delivery (AID) systems according to age groups (<19, 19-39, 40-59, and ≥60 years) were analyzed using chi-square tests.

Background: Chronic cough (CC) is defined by cough more than 8 weeks. Common causes of CC are upper airway cough syndrome (UACS), asthma, eosinophilic bronchitis (EB), and gastroesophageal reflux diseases (GERD). However, we do not know the characteristics of responding to treatment early.

Methods: In this nationwide cohort study, we enrolled 14,543 patients with T1DM between 2009 and 2015, with a median follow-up duration of 7.
Urbanization-related stress has spurred interest in natural therapies, such as horticultural therapy, which leverages multisensory exposure to plants to enhance well-being through physical, psychological, and cognitive benefits. This study aimed to measure and compare the psychophysiological and psychological responses to tactile stimuli through plant contact based on the foliage type. Thirty adults (average age: 24.

Methods: Using data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service Cohort, individuals with T1DM managed by intensive insulin therapy were followed at 3-month intervals for 2 years after the initiation of CGM. The glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels and coefficients of variation (CVs) of rtCGM and isCGM users were compared using independent two-sample t-test and a linear mixed model.
Acute liver failure (ALF) is a life-threatening condition caused by rapid hepatocyte death and impaired liver regeneration. Here we show that extracellular vesicles engineered to express Signal Regulatory Protein Alpha (SIRP-EVs), produced via a scalable 3D bioreactor process with high yield and purity, exhibit significant therapeutic potential by targeting damaged cells and promoting tissue repair. SIRP-EVs block CD47, a crucial inhibitory signal on necroptotic cells, to enhance macrophage-mediated clearance of dying hepatocytes.

In this pre-clinical study, we generated multiple clinical-grade hiPSC lines from freshly biopsied fibroblasts of four sporadic PD patients using episomal reprogramming and differentiated them into mDACs using a refined 21-day protocol. Rigorous evaluations included whole-genome/exome sequencing, RNA sequencing, and in vivo studies, including a 39-week Good Laboratory Practice-compliant mouse safety study.

, the causal agent of fire blight, poses a serious threat to several rosaceous plants, especially apples and pears. In this study, a spontaneous streptomycin-resistant strain (EaSmR) was isolated under laboratory conditions. Compared with the parental strain TS3128, the EaSmR strain exhibited high resistance to streptomycin (>100,000 µg/mL) and showed a significant reduction in both swimming and swarming motility.

Combination strategies have been explored to overcome this resistance. Combining immunogenic clearance using immunogenic cell death inducers with a rho kinase inhibitor enhances phagocytosis of immunogenically dying cancer cells by antigen-presenting cells, stimulating tumor-specific immune responses by activating CD8T cells via dendritic cell-mediated priming.

This longitudinal observational study, using data from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES), examined the rate of lung function decline, risk factors for the airflow obstruction (AFO), and the time to first AFO based on ALR and APOR groups. Among 5578 participants, high ALR and low APOR were associated with rapid decline in lung function and a shorter time to the first AFO.

Recent developments in machine learning methods have focused on improving pose quality at the cost of model runtime. For high-throughput virtual screening applications, this exposes a capability gap that can be filled by moderately accurate but fast pose prediction.

Background: Although patients with lymphoma appear particularly vulnerable to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, the clinical evolution of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in a patient with lymphoid malignancies has been under-represented, especially in relation to chemo-, chemo-immunotherapy.
Materials And Methods: Among adult patients with lymphoma receiving treatment in a specialized lymphoma center at a 500-bed, university-affiliated hospital, we retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection from January 2020 to April 2022.
Results: A total of 117 patients with a median age of 53 years were included.
