Objectives: To standardize the necessary competencies for medical students related to Head and Neck Surgery.

Methods: The study was performed in 2025. The Delphi process was employed in its sequential phases: the selection of an expert panel; a structured questionnaire containing a preliminary list of potential competencies; the electronic distribution of the questionnaire to the experts, with options to "maintain", "remove", or "modify" the competencies and to suggest the inclusion of new competencies; a second round indicating "agree" or "disagree" for each reformulated or new competency; and the final consensus.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of intraoperative Bupivacaine application in reducing postoperative pain among patients undergoing total thyroidectomy.

Methods: A prospective study was carried out with 153 female patients undergoing total thyroidectomy, with a randomization protocol for topical anesthetic infiltration. Postoperative pain intensity was self-reported by the patients using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) at the 1st, 6th, and 24th postoperative hours.

Objective: To evaluate the laryngeal manifestations of PD.

Methods: Evaluation of 18 PD patients conducted between January 2011 and December 2012. Patients were evaluated through videolaryngostroboscopy, auditory perceptual analysis of the voice using the GIRBAS scale, acoustic voice analysis, and application of the Vocal Handicap Index (VHI) questionnaire.

Purpose: Pulmonary function assessment in laryngectomized patients is challenging due to technical difficulties in performing spirometry. Existing methods have limitations, including potential air leakage and patient discomfort. The purpose of this study was to develop a simple, comfortable extratracheal device for accurate pulmonary function assessment in laryngectomized patients.

Background: Supraglottic squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a significant portion of head and neck cancers, with the management of clinically negative necks (cN0) through selective neck dissection (SND) being debated due to potential morbidities and low metastasis rates in levels IIb and IV.

Methods: This study is a retrospective, multicenter examination of the potential feasibility of limited neck dissection (LND), including only levels IIa and III in cN0 supraglottic SCC patients. It analyzed occult metastasis rates and explored relapse occurrences alongside potential predictors of lymph node metastasis.

The present systematic review aims to put together human population studies that include some relationship between genetic polymorphisms and genotoxicity as well as to evaluate the quality of the published studies induced by cigarette smoke exposure in vivo. The present systematic review was built according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) criteria. Different genotoxicity assays were used by different authors, although the major goal was the genotoxicity assessment by means of micronucleus, comet, sister chromatid exchange, and chromosomal aberration assays.

Objectives: Several studies have evaluated the prognostic significance of Perineural Invasion (IPN) in laryngeal cancer; however, the results are non-conclusive. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis aiming to identify the prognostic value of IPN in laryngeal cancer.

Methods: A literature review was performed, searching MedLine via PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs, Cochrane and Websco.

: Positive margins are associated with locoregional recurrence in early laryngeal cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impacts of specimen-driven (ex vivo) positive margins on patients with early-stage laryngeal cancer whose tumor bed (defect-driven) margins had been negative. : A retrospective study was performed on 60 consecutive T1b/T2 glottic cancer patients who underwent open frontolateral laryngectomy.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is well known as a serious health problem worldwide, especially in low-income countries or those with limited resources, such as most countries in Latin America. International guidelines cannot always be applied to a population from a large region with specific conditions. This study established a Latin American guideline for care of patients with head and neck cancer and presented evidence of HNSCC management considering availability and oncologic benefit.

Objective: To compare the oncological results and the functional outcomes of patients undergoing Total Laryngectomy (TL) with the non-surgical treatment (organ preservation protocol) in the treatment of advanced laryngeal carcinomas through systematic review and meta-analysis.

Methods: A literature survey strategy was employed in order to perform a systematic review of the available evidence. Success rate and functional outomes after oncological treatment of patients with advanced laryngeal carcinomas was evaluated through systematic review and metanalysis, comparing TL and organ preservation protocol.

Introduction: Clinical trials on tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) treatment have shown an improvement in overall and progression-free survival in patients with advanced differentiated thyroid cancer. However, it is necessary to evaluate these studies to assess methodological biases and inconsistencies that may impact the effects.

Objective: To map and assess the methodological quality of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) regarding randomization, allocation concealment, blinding, and selective reporting bias.

Introduction: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains a significant public health concern. The variables utilized to determine appropriate treatment for this disease also represent its most unfavorable prognostic factors, with these parameters solely determined by the neoplasm and its behavior. However, a lack of well-established indices is evident in the literature that specifically relate to the patient and indicate a worse prognosis.
