The Kirchhoff's law of thermal radiation stating the equivalence of emissivity and absorptivity at the same wavelength, angle, and polarization, has completely constrained emission and absorption processes. Achieving strong nonreciprocal emission points to fundamental advances for applications such as energy harvesting, heat transfer, and sensing, but strong nonreciprocal thermal emission has not been experimentally realized. Here, we observe strong nonreciprocal thermal emission using a custom-designed angle-resolved magnetic thermal emission spectroscopy and an epitaxially transferred gradient-doped metamaterial.

Background: Ensuring the uninterrupted availability of the anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) and rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) in health facilities is crucial to achieve the global target of zero dog-mediated human rabies deaths by 2030. This study aimed to estimate the availability of ARV and RIG across health facilities in India.
Methods: We conducted a nationwide health facility-based, cross-sectional study across 60 districts selected by multistage probability sampling from 15 Indian states.
Background: Biobehavioral surveys confirm that HIV prevalence is high or 'concentrated' among 'key populations' (KPs) who have unprotected sexual contacts with multiple partners or who engage in injecting drug use. These populations include female sex workers (FSW), men who have sex with men (MSM), hijra/transgender (TG), and people who inject drugs (PWID). Antiretroviral therapy is offered under the program of National AIDS Control to Seropositive population at the designated center.

Cancer represents a complex disease category defined by the unregulated proliferation and dissemination of anomalous cells within the human body. According to the GLOBOCAN 2020 report, the year 2020 witnessed the diagnosis of approximately 19.3 million new cases of cancer and 10.

Instead of conventional (radio/chemotherapies) and targeted therapies, the disease is associated with high rate of recurrence and poor patient survival. Thus, for better disease management, the molecular pathogenesis of chordoma should be studied in detail to identify dysregulated biomolecules that can be targeted by novel therapeutics.

This paper evaluates endoscopic stapedotomy from the perspectives of a group of 3 surgeons, each of whose experience in endoscopic and microscopic stapedotomy is 3 years and more than 12 years, respectively. Thirty-four patients clinically diagnosed with stapedial otosclerosis were alternately assigned for unilateral, microscope- and endoscope-assisted stapedotomy following the selection criteria given. Results were evaluated with predetermined epidemiologic, preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative outcome parameters.

Disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus (COVID-19) led to significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. A systemic hyper-inflammation characterizes severe COVID-19 disease, often associated with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Blood biomarkers capable of risk stratification are of great importance in effective triage and critical care of severe COVID-19 patients.

This pilot study was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of Hb-F inducer thalidomide compared to hydroxyurea (HU) in Hb E-β thalassemia patients.
Methods: This was a prospective interventional single-centre study with 45 Hb E-beta thalassemia patients equally divided into group-I (thalidomide+folic acid), group-II (HU + folic acid) and group-III (folic acid).
The microscope is one of the widely used pathological equipment to analyze body fluids like blood, sputum, etc. in granular level. In order to reduce workload on pathologists and strengthen the telehealth services, an automatic self-focusing microscope with different field image collection mechanism is required.

Methods: A prospective observational study recruited pediatric patients aged from 1 to 12 years with JIA in the pediatric rheumatology clinic of a public sector tertiary care hospital. Direct healthcare costs and indirect costs for transportation, accommodation of the caregivers, and productivity loss for work absenteeism were assessed.
Coastal erosion is a natural hazard which causes significant loss to properties as well as coastal habitats. Coastal districts of Mahanadi delta, one of the most populated deltas of the Indian subcontinent, are suffering from the ill effects of coastal erosion. An important amount of assets is being lost every year along with forced migration of huge portions of coastal communities due to erosion.

Background: Early initiation of appropriate noninvasive respiratory support is utmost important intervention to avoid mechanical ventilation in severe bronchiolitis.
Aim: This study aims to compare noninvasive continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) and hot humidified high-flow nasal cannulae (HHHFNC) as modes of respiratory support in infants with severe bronchiolitis.
Methods: Prospective, randomized, open-label pilot study done in a tertiary-care hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

Malaria spreads rapidly in a particular time of the year, and it becomes impossible to arrange sufficient number of pathologists and physician at that time, especially in remote places of the developing nations. Thus, low-cost pathological equipment, which can automatically identify and classify the type of malarial parasites from the microscopic images of blood samples, will be of great help for diagnosis and treatment of malaria. The proposed system detects malarial parasites from the microscopic images of blood samples and also categorizes them based on shape, size and texture.

This study was designed to evaluate the socio-demographic parameters, spectrum of the presenting clinical conditions and concurrent immunological status of newly diagnosed HIV patients and document the WHO clinical stages at the time of HIV diagnosis.
Methods: This cross-sectional, observational study was undertaken over a 12 month period at a tertiary referral hospital in eastern India.
Background: The increase in invasive fungal infections (IFIs) in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is jeopardizing the survival of preterm neonates. Probiotics modulating the intestinal microflora of preterm neonates may minimize enteral fungal colonization.
Aims: This study was to examine whether probiotic supplementation in neonates reduced fungal septicemia.
Objective: To estimate the proportion of time the vaccines in the cold-chain system in India are exposed to temperatures of < 0 or > 8 °C.
Methods: In each of 10 states, the largest district and the one most distant from the state capital were selected for study. Four boxes, each containing an electronic temperature recorder and two vials of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine, were placed in the state or regional vaccine store for each study state.

Government of India had introduced price control over griseofulvin and tolnaftate in 1995; however, this measure can only benefit the needy if the policy is harmonized with the health-care service provider, that is, dermatologists. The aim of this study was to evaluate the existing Government mechanisms over price control of antifungal medications and its reach to the people-in-need.
