Background: The care of women with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) presents unique challenges for physicians given the impact of their disease on the management of issues throughout their lifespan. Preventative care plays a critical role, given the long-term sequelae associated with chronic inflammation and immunosuppressive therapy. Despite this, there remains a gap in knowledge regarding the health maintenance needs of women over 40, particularly those in perimenopausal and postmenopausal stages.

Background: Ear piercing is a common practice in all over the world and can result in complications such as torn or cleft earlobes. This study aimed to compare two surgical modalities for correction of earlobe splits; the Composite Closure technique and Double flap technique in terms of aesthetic results, preservation of original orifice, and prevention of relapse. It also assessed the possible superiority of one technique over another.

Pregnancy-onset inflammatory bowel disease (POIBD) is a rare diagnosis that has been associated with diagnostic delay and increased risk of hospitalization compared with inflammatory bowel disease diagnosed outside of pregnancy. There is a paucity of data on the clinical presentation and risk factors associated with maternal and fetal outcomes of POIBD. We present a 29-year-old patient who presented with acute severe ulcerative colitis at 24 weeks gestational age whose course was complicated by delayed diagnosis and therapy, colonic perforation, colectomy, prolonged hospitalization, and neonatal prematurity.

Background: The care of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) requires special attention among immigrants due to different disease incidence, phenotype, and risk profiles. We aimed to highlight key themes among existing literature to inform equitable care in all immigrants living with IBD.

Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane library, Scopus, and ProQuest from inception to February 2023 to identify studies capturing the care of IBD among immigrants who moved from one country to another, irrespective of the timing of IBD diagnosis.

Introduction: Children born to women with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) may have increased health care utilization in early life due to genetic susceptibilities and exposure to inflammation in utero, although this has not been robustly evaluated. We aimed to characterize health care use between these groups.

Methods: We accessed province-wide health administrative databases to identify children born to women with and without IBD between 2002 and 2019.

Introduction: To study digestive system cancer risks in individuals with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) in the biologic era.

Methods: We used population-level administrative and cancer registry data from Ontario, Canada, (1994-2020) to compare people with IBD to matched controls (1:10 by sex and birth year) on trends in age-sex standardized cancer incidence and risk ratios of incident cancers and cancer-related deaths.

Results: Among 110,919 people with IBD and 1,109,190 controls, colorectal cancer incidence (per 100,000 person-years) declined similarly in people with ulcerative colitis (average annual percentage change [AAPC] -1.

Background Third molar extraction is a routine oral surgical procedure that is often complicated by the development of a dry socket (alveolar osteitis). This prospective observational study aimed to investigate the prevalence of dry sockets and identify associated risk factors and causes, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the postoperative outcomes of oral surgery. Methods This study employed a prospective observational design with a 12-month follow-up period.

The parasymphysis area of the mandible is highly dynamic because it is subjected to both occlusal and muscular forces. As a result, the fractures in this transition zone have a special pattern, posing a challenge for surgeons whether to use one miniplate versus two miniplates, as per Champy's recommendations. The commonest complication resulting to treat this area is mental nerve paraesthesia due to the dissection and stretching of the nerve.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) frequently affects women of childbearing age who may consider breastfeeding. Although breastfeeding has numerous benefits, there remain concerns regarding the safety of breastfeeding among women with IBD. Breastfeeding is important in developing the immune system of infants and has been shown to protect against the development of IBD.

Approximately one out of every 88 seniors has inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and this is expected to increase in the future. They are more likely to have left-sided disease in ulcerative colitis, and isolated colonic disease in Crohn's disease; perianal disease is less common. Other common diagnoses in the elderly must also be considered when they initially present to a healthcare provider.

Cancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality among people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Intestinal cancers may arise as a complication of IBD itself, while extra-intestinal cancers may arise due to some of the immunosuppressive therapies used to treat IBD. Colorectal cancer (CRC) and small bowel cancer risks remain elevated among persons with IBD as compared to age-and sex-matched members of the general population, and the lifetime risk of these cancers is strongly correlated to cumulative intestinal inflammatory burden.

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD), are inflammatory conditions of the intestinal tract that affect women in their reproductive years. Pregnancy affects Th1- and Th2-cytokines, but how these changes occur during pregnancy in IBD is unclear. We performed a longitudinal profiling of serum cytokines in a cohort of 11 healthy pregnant women and 76 pregnant women with IBD from the first trimester of pregnancy to the first 12 months post-partum.
