One of the most commonly used local anesthetic (LA) agents in dentistry is lidocaine. Hypersensitivity reactions to lidocaine have been reported. In such cases, it is crucial to record a detailed clinical history and perform allergy testing to select a suitable alternative LA agent.

BackgroundThere has been a growing interest in defining the educational environment in medical and dental institutes that includes different measures to rate and improve it. Evidence suggests that the educational environment directly impacts teaching, learning, well-being, and students' involvement and their successful professional performance. The Undergraduate Clinical Education Environment Measure (UCEEM) is widely used in medical and allied health sciences institutions to evaluate students' perceptions of their clinical learning environment.

Smoking and Its Impact on Orthodontic Treatment/Management Modalities: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: We aimed to review studies that evaluated the effect of cigarette smoking on orthodontic treatment methods and determine whether the smoke affected appliances in a way that could impair the effectiveness of the overall treatment strategy.

Methods: PubMed, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were scoured using pertinent keywords, reference searches, and citation searches in accordance with the PRISMA protocol regarding articles published from 2008 till 2022.

Results: Ultimately, 7 papers were chosen for further analysis at the end of the selection protocol.

The current paper aimed to review the properties of formocresol and concerns regarding its safety as a pulpotomy medicament for primary teeth. With reference to the context of the recently published literature, the alternatives to formocresol are discussed, together with their benefits and drawbacks.

Oral Health-Related Quality of Life in Breast Cancer Patients in the Northern Region of Saudi Arabia.

Background: Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent diseases, and ignoring dental health care before and after treatment can have severe long-term consequences. Additionally, this may have a negative impact on the patient's general quality of life.

Submandibular gland extirpation during neck dissection, is it truly justified?

Background: There is no oncologic basis for the extirpation of the submandibular gland (SMG) in early oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC) unless the SMG is truly infiltrated by the tumor. The study aimed at assessing the true involvement of SMG in OSCC and to determine whether the gland extirpation in all cases is justified.

Methods: This study prospectively evaluated the pathological involvement of SMG by OSCC in 281 patients, who were diagnosed with OSCC and underwent wide local excision of the primary tumor with simultaneous neck dissection.

Current trends in managing TMJ ankylosis in children-summing it up with a case report.

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis involves fusion of the mandibular condyle to the base of the skull. The treatment of TMJ ankylosis poses a significant challenge because of technical difficulties and a high incidence of recurrence. The experience of managing one such case is reported in light of a review of the literature on this condition.

This observational study was conducted to evaluate the clinical signs and symptoms of maxillary sinus tumors and to propose a clinical examination sieve and a unique risk alarm score to be used for timely patient referral and vigilance. The study consisted of 70 patients between 20 to 82 years of age from both sexes. The clinical information gained was collected from the upper dentoalveolar segment, orbit, and nasal sites.

The knowledge, attitude and practices of the general population play a vital role in prevention of COVID-19. The present study aimed to assess the COVID-19-related knowledge, attitudes and practices of the general public of Sakaka, Saudi Arabia, to identify which populations show low levels of knowledge, attitudes and practices towards COVID-19, making them highly likely to remain vulnerable during the pandemic.
