In this study, a novel nano-CoFeO-immobilized Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast nanobiocomposite (CFO-yeast) was synthesized by a physical immobilization method for ultrasonically enhanced photo-Fenton degradation of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous medium. CFO-yeast was comprehensively characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopy, FTIR, SEM, BET, pH and XRD before and after immobilization that revealed pure nano-CoFeO (CFO) possessed cubic spinel crystal system having 19.0 nm average crystallite size whereas after immobilization the size reduced to 14.

Background: Hypertension frequently coexists with diabetes, affecting over two-thirds of diabetic patients and significantly increasing cardiovascular (CV) risk. While blood pressure (BP) reduction offers substantial benefits in this population, the optimal systolic blood pressure (SBP) target remains controversial. This meta-analysis evaluates the effects of intensive SBP lowering (<130 mmHg) versus standard therapy (<150 mmHg) on key CV outcomes in hypertensive patients with diabetes.

Background: The clinical utility and cost-effectiveness of pre-thiopurine NUDT15 pharmacogenetic testing in European and admixed populations are unknown.

Aims: To report the prevalence, penetrance, expressivity, and pathogenicity of NUDT15 variant allele carriage and the diagnostic accuracy and cost-effectiveness of an inexpensive loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) test.

Methods: Retrospective case-matched cohort study of rates of severe myelosuppression in patients with and without loss-of-function NUDT15 variant allele(s) treated with a thiopurine.

Introduction: Epilepsy affects millions of people in the US annually, leading to disability and death. This study aims to comprehensively delve into the epidemiological framework of epilepsy-related mortality by stratification of data through gender, ethnicity, and geographical regions over two decades, as these have not been done previously to this extent, with a view to addressing the target population precisely.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed epilepsy-related mortality data in the United States from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) database of all age groups using ICD-10 codes of G40.

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) and atrial fibrillation (AF) are significant cardiovascular conditions with substantial health and economic burdens. Despite advancements in treatment, long-term mortality trends among individuals with both conditions remain underexplored. This study investigates age-adjusted mortality rates (AAMRs) from 1999 to 2020 and examines trends to address these gaps and highlight demographic and geographic disparities.

Background: The association between endometriosis and cardiovascular disease remains poorly understood. This study conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes in women with endometriosis compared to those without the condition.

Methods: A comprehensive search of online databases was performed up to November 2024 to identify studies comparing adverse cardiovascular outcomes in women with and without endometriosis.

Mefenamic acid functions as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the fenamate class, which treats pain and inflammation by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes to decrease prostaglandin production. Mefenamic acid has strong therapeutic properties that help to treat arthritis and dysmenorrhea. The rapid dissolution of orodispersible tablets (ODTs) makes them an effective treatment option for patients with dysphagia.

Background: ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is responsible for high morbidity and mortality rates globally. Although the use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) remains the cornerstone treatment for patients with STEMI, the use of angiotensin-receptor neprilysin inhibitors (ARNIs) may offer better outcomes than ACEIs. This meta-analysis compares the efficacy and safety of ARNIs versus ACEIs in patients with STEMI.

Background: Emerging evidence indicates that individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) are at an elevated risk of Parkinson's Disease (PD). While mortality trends for each condition have been studied individually, the combined burden of T2DM- and PD-related mortality remains poorly understood. This study aims to evaluate national trends and disparities in T2DM and PD related mortality among older adults in the United States (U.

Objectives: The optimal management of renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (RASIs) before noncardiac surgery remains unclear. Continuing RASIs may increase intraoperative hypotension, while discontinuation risks postoperative hypertension and heart failure. Current guidelines suggest withholding RASI 24 hours prior to surgery, but evidence is limited.

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Current international guidelines recommend 6-monthly ultrasound surveillance in all patients with cirrhosis and those with hepatitis B virus-related risk factors to detect early-stage HCC. However, it is unknown whether the benefits of surveillance are comparable across patient groups and underlying disease-related factors.

Background: Although existing literature highlights obesity as a significant predictor for coronary artery disease (CAD), the impact of BMI on hospital outcomes among CAD patients remains unclear.

Methods: We extracted data from the National Inpatient Sample database for adult patients with CAD from 2018 to 2020. The study cohort was stratified into six BMI categories: underweight, normal weight, overweight, class I obesity, class II obesity, and class III obesity.

Background: Schizophrenia is a mental health condition that typically begins between ages 18 and 25, significantly impairs daily functioning, ranks among the leading causes of disability worldwide, and is associated with a shortened lifespan. Mortality in schizophrenia is often linked to cardiovascular disease, driven by poor lifestyle choices, limited access to physical healthcare, frequent comorbidities, and non-compliance with antipsychotic medications. This article analyzes mortality trends among U.

Objective: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a growing global health concern, with increasing mortality rates driven by the obesity pandemic. Weight loss has been shown to improve MASLD outcomes, yet the effectiveness of eHealth interventions in MASLD management remains uncertain. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of eHealth interventions compared with standard care in improving health outcomes among patients with MASLD.
