Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is widely used to treat severe aortic stenosis; however, periprocedural stroke remains a significant concern. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluate whether the use of cerebral embolic protection devices (CEPDs) during TAVR reduces the risk of stroke and other complications. To conduct a network meta-analysis of relevant trials to assess the efficacy of CEPDs currently used in TAVR.

The aim of the current study is to evaluate the cumulative hepatoprotective, antihyperlipidemic as well as antioxidant actions of methanolic seed extracts of (CL), (CM), (CS), and (CuM) in NAFLD induced by a high-fat diet along with 20% fructose water in a rat model. A total of 40 male Wistar rats were kept in five groups.

Radon (Rn), a naturally occurring radioactive gas, is the byproduct of the uranium decay series. As a naturally radioactive gas, radon is frequently used as a geophysical tracer to find underground faults and geological formations, in uranium surveys, and to forecast seismic events. Abnormalities in radon time-series (RTS) data have been studied before seismic events, indicating that it may act as an earthquake precursor.

The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) is a promising target for UC management. This study aimed to identify potent, selective PPAR-γ agonists derived from the natural product eucalyptol (1,8-cineole), with reported anti-inflammatory and PPAR-γ activating properties but limited clinical utility.

Background: Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) contributes substantially to morbidity and mortality in cirrhotic patients. A clear insight into the anticoagulation therapy benefits in these patients could improve clinical decision-making. This meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of Anticoagulants in cirrhotic patients with PVT.

Duloxetine, a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), has been widely studied for its potential role in alleviating neuropathic pain. Objective This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of duloxetine in the management of DN.

Malignant odontogenic tumors are rare, accounting for only 1%-6.1% of all odontogenic tumors. Among them, odontogenic carcinosarcoma (OCS) is an exceptionally rare and aggressive malignant neoplasm originating from dental tissues.

Emerging alternatives like recombinant human prourokinase (rhPro-UK), reteplase, and tenecteplase offer potential improvements in efficacy, safety, and convenience, necessitating a comparative analysis.MethodsElectronic databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane Central, were comprehensively searched from inception till December 2024 for relevant studies.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLumbar disc disorders and herniation are leading causes of discogenic low back pain (DLBP) and lumbar radiculopathy, often resulting in spinal surgery. Lumbar traction is an effective conservative treatment for DLBP, shown to decrease pain, improve functional disability, and positively affect disc height and herniation index. While typically applied in the supine position, lumbar traction can also be administered prone.

Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted at the Foundation University College of Physical Therapy, Foundation University, Islamabad, and Radiology Department, Fauji Foundation Hospital, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, from May 2022 to June 2023, and comprised patients of either gender having postero-lateral disc herniation and discogenic low back pain. Pain was assessed using the visual analogue scale, disc height index was measured via magnetic resonance imaging, postural stability was evaluated using the Biodex balance system, lumbar range of motion was measured via inclinometer, and functional disability was assessed using the Oswestry disability index.
BackgroundInherent differences in gender may influence balance and postural stability. However, despite existing theories, research addressing these differences in healthy young adults is limited and yields conflicting results.ObjectiveTo determine if there is a significant difference in postural stability (PS), fall risk (FR) and clinical test of sensory integration of balance (CTSIB) between healthy young male and female adults.

It is almost exclusively secondary to invasive instrumentation complications in intensive care settings. Forceful or repeated orogastric (OG) or nasogastric (NG) tube insertion, vigorous suctioning to clear the airway, and trauma during airway intubation are the leading causes.

In this meta-analysis, we compare DRA versus proximal radial artery (PRA) access in cardiac catheterization or angiography.
Methods: A detailed literature search was performed on PubMed, Cochrane, Embase, and Clinicaltrials.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of intravenous (IV) amino acids in preventing acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases were systematically searched for all relevant randomised controlled trials (RCTs) published from inception to July 25, 2024. A random effects model was used to pool the risk ratios (RR) for dichotomous outcomes, and the combined data was visually represented using forest plots.
Background: Anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) have significantly changed the multiple myeloma treatment landscape. This meta-analysis compared the efficacy and safety of anti-CD38 mAb-based therapy versus standard therapy in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) patients.
Methods: We performed a comprehensive literature search on PubMed, the Cochrane Database, and ClinicalTrials.
Background & Objective: Chronic suppurative otitis media is a fatal condition owing to its propensity for intracranial extension. The inadvertent use of antibiotics has led to resistance among causative organisms. The objectives of this study were to determine causative bacteria, their antibiotic resistance and susceptibility patterns, and their response to antibiotics after a one-month follow-up.

Congenital anomalies are mainly because of failed obliteration of the omphalomesenteric duct while acquired pathologies are either because of delayed umbilical cord separation causing umbilical granuloma or result from umbilical stump infection producing omphalitis with persistent discharge. Meckel's diverticulum is considered the most common gastrointestinal congenital anomaly resulting from obliteration failure of the omphalomesenteric duct while umbilical granuloma is a common acquired umbilical lesion seen in daily practice.
