The paper empirically investigates the asymmetries pass-through rate of international oil prices to energy markets in eight key developed economies. To examine this, we apply an asymmetric ARDL model to split the effects of positive and negative partial sum decomposition in WTI oil price on energy markets in the short- and long-run. Moreover, we use cumulative dynamic multipliers to contribute to the understanding of the time path and adjustment process of energy stock responses to oil price shocks.

Deep quanvolutional neural networks with enhanced trainability and gradient propagation.

In this paper, we explore methods to enhance the performance of one of the frequently used variants of Quantum Convolutional Neural Networks, known as Quanvolutional Neural Networks (QuNNs) by introducing trainable quanvolutional layers and addressing the challenges associated with training multi-layered or deep QuNNs. Traditional QuNNs mostly rely on static (non-trainable) quanvolutional layers, limiting their feature extraction capabilities. Our approach enables the training of these layers, significantly improving the scalability and learning potential of QuNNs.

Neuroleptic malignant syndrome: A case report.

Neuroleptic malignant syndrome is a serious adverse drug reaction associated with antipsychotic medications. The cause is dopamine blockade caused by these drugs. We are presenting the case report of a 25-year old male patient, who presented to our psychiatry emergency facility, with post-ictal behavioural disturbances.

Ammonia nitrogen posed a significant threat to aquatic animals in aquaculture environments, and the substantial potential of microorganisms in removing ammonia nitrogen had garnered considerable attention. This study identified a marine yeast, HJ2, which effectively removed ammonia nitrogen. By combining transcriptomics and metabolomics, the ammonia nitrogen transformation mechanism of HJ2 was elucidated.

T cell phenotype and clonality changes in myeloma patients with short overall survival.

Overall survival (OS) in multiple myeloma (MM) varies between a couple of months to more than 20 years, influenced by tumor characteristics, the tumor microenvironment (TME), and patient factors such as age and frailty. We analyzed sequential BM samples from 45 MM patients with OS less than 3 years versus more than 8 years using mass cytometry and bulk TCRβ sequencing. Patients with long OS demonstrated stability in the TME and T cell environments, while those with short OS had significant changes at relapse, including fewer T cells, increased Tregs, and more activated and exhausted CD8+ T cells.

Background: Healthcare care professionals, particularly surgeons, are at significant risk of acquiring work-related musculoskeletal disorders that can lead to prolonged pain and diminish productivity. This study aimed to identify the prevalence, associated risk factors, and coping strategies for work-related musculoskeletal disorders among general and laparoscopic surgeons in Pakistan.

Introduction/objectives: Head and neck region squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is a heterogeneous disease that can be categorized into human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive (20 %) and HPV-negative (80 %) subtypes. However, the prevalence of HPV genotypes is not clear in Pakistan. This study investigated how common the HPV-16 genotype is in patients with HNSCC in the Southern Punjab region of Pakistan, and the specific molecular features of this genotype.
