Non-palpable migrated contraceptive implants pose significant challenges for removal and are associated with neurovascular complications. Traditional open surgery near nerves is associated with postoperative morbidity. Migrated or deeply embedded implants near critical structures can result in severe complications, such as neuropathy, and their removal typically requires open surgical intervention.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the practical utilization of work-related laws in nursing practice and to prioritize educational needs to provide foundational data for improving nurses' legal competencies.
Methods: A descriptive survey was employed using an online self-reported questionnaire. Participants included 275 nurses with over 3 years of clinical experience, categorized into hospital and community-based.
Iatrogenic abductor muscle injury following intramedullary nailing for proximal hip fractures can negatively impact postoperative rehabilitation and clinical outcomes. To quantify iatrogenic abductor muscle injury after intramedullary nailing and detect the degree of degenerative change in muscle around the entry point of trochanteric fractures. This cross-sectional study used data from a single center database from May to December 2023.

We report a case where ultrasound-guided hydrodissection (HD) with 5% dextrose in water (D5W) achieved immediate functional restoration, suggesting neurapraxia as the underlying pathology. A 54-year-old diabetic female presented with acute left wrist drop without trauma.

Aims: To examine research trends on strengthening political competency among nurses and nursing students by mapping key concepts and exploring enhancement strategies.
Background: Political competency is essential for nurses to influence healthcare policies and advocate systemic change. However, research on nursing education and practice remains fragmented, highlighting the need for a more cohesive understanding.
Background: Despite evidence that use of patient portals and telehealth is associated with many health benefits, disparities exist in awareness, adoption, and use. Understanding factors and strategies specific to underserved populations is key to achieving digital equity and better health.
Objective: This study assesses portal and telehealth experiences among residents of a minoritized and lower-resource area of Dallas, Texas.

Background: Despite guideline recommendations, evidence suggests many women with metastatic breast cancer (mBC) do not receive specialty palliative care services despite high morbidity burden. Given the varied prognoses and disease trajectories of women with mBC, relatively little is known about palliative care delivery in this growing population, including timing and frequency of visits, location (inpatient vs. outpatient), and reasons for referral.

Purpose: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and aggressive primary brain tumor in adults, with poor survival despite advancements in treatment. Adaptive stereotactic radiation therapy (RT) using a magnetic resonance imaging linear accelerator is an emerging approach for patients with newly diagnosed GBM eligible for conventional fractionation. We hypothesize that adaptive stereotactic RT can provide comparable outcomes with conventional fractionation while reducing treatment burden.

Coastal industrialization has led to the accumulation of metal and metalloid contaminants in marine sediments, particularly in semi-enclosed harbors. This study investigates the distribution and enrichment of contaminants in surface sediments along the southeastern coast of the Korean Peninsula, encompassing the industrialized ports of Busan and Ulsan. A total of 282 surface sediment samples were collected from the southeastern coastal and offshore areas of the Korean Peninsula.

Hydrogels are three-dimensional network structures composed of hydrophilic polymers that can swell in water and are very similar to soft tissues such as connective tissue or the extracellular matrix. DNA hydrogels are particularly notable for biomedical applications due to their high biocompatibility, physiological stability, molecular recognition, biodegradability, easy functionalization, and low immunogenicity. Based on these advantages, stimuli-responsive DNA hydrogels that have the property of reversibly changing their structure in response to various microenvironments or molecules are attracting attention as smart nanomaterials that can be applied to biosensing and material transfer, such as in the case of cells and drugs.

In this article, we describe the development and structure of PRIDE CF, an innovative, large-scale epidemiologic study using a mixed-methods team science approach to understand the experiences and health outcomes of people with cystic fibrosis (PwCF) who identify as a gender or sexual minority. Our four separate but symbiotic projects utilize the PRIDE CF cohort (n ~ 300) with the shared goal of better understanding the needs of LGBTQIA+ PwCF.

Methods: Patients with a diagnosis of facial synkinesis presenting between 2010 and 2024 were assessed through photographic and videographic review using the eFACE Facial Nerve Clinician-Graded Scale.
Background: Although cascade testing affords disease-free relatives the opportunity for genetically targeted primary disease prevention and is endorsed by multiple guidelines, utilization studies reveal that rates remain low. Lack of family communication and high testing costs are two of the most commonly documented barriers to testing. We leverage two well-known choice-architecture tools from psychology and behavioral science - default effect and zero price effect - to address these barriers and improve cascade testing rates in hereditary cancer.

This cross-sectional study investigated the relationship between resistin, metabolic health, and obesity in an adult Mexican-American cohort ( = 1511) using multivariable linear regression analysis. Related adipokines (leptin and adiponectin) were measured simultaneously.

In this study, a series of linear tris-pyrrolidinium salts with different alkyl side chain lengths and counter-anions were synthesized and systematically characterized in terms of their structural, thermal, and electrochemical properties. Among the synthesized compounds, N,N-bis(4-(N'-undecylpyrrolidinium)butyl)pyrrolidinium trishexafluorophosphate (11-PF) exhibited two solid-solid phase transitions and a low fusion entropy (ΔS) of 13 J·K·mol at 210 °C.

Although the KPLO data are still undergoing quality-control processing, the publicly available 'partially processed (PP)' data confirm five strong anomaly regions, Gerasimovich crater, Antipode of Serenitatis basin, Hayford crater, Crisium basin and Abel crater regions, where only marginal anomaly features were previously revealed at the higher altitudes. However, higher-altitude anomalies help constrain the regional effects of lunar crustal magnetic sources commonly masked by the shorter wavelengths of the shallower crustal sources.

This cross-sectional study examined associations of social support, social control, and family member stage of change with moderate-to-vigorous self-reported and objective PA in dyads of adult Hispanic family members. We used the Godin Leisure-Time Physical Activity Questionnaire to assess self-reported PA and accelerometry for objective PA.

There are many studies aimed at promoting positive lifestyle behaviors to reduce lifetime risk of cancer and related diseases. However, assessing these modifiable behaviors through statistical modeling is challenging because of the multidimensionality of interrelated measurements that may dramatically differ between at-risk individuals. Taking into account this heterogeneity while considering the multidimensionality of behavior changes is fundamental to tailoring interventions to their needs.

Background: The integration of education and technology (Edutech) has become significant in education.
Purpose: To explore the current state of formative assessment in nursing education and factors influencing technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) competencies.
Methods: A total of 216 novice nurse educators with <5 years of teaching experience in South Korea were surveyed online.
Background: The practice of collecting various intraoperative tissue samples from diverse periarticular sites is essential for accurately identifying the responsible microorganism, making it the gold standard in the procedure for managing periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). We hypothesized that the location of positive intraoperative cultures differs significantly between patients who underwent septic revision following a one-stage exchange for hip PJI and those who did not.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective case-control study at our tertiary arthroplasty center, analyzing data from January 2009 to September 2017.
Background In the United States, many residents and fellows lack confidence in their ability to confidentially counsel adolescents regarding sexual health topics. Little is known about how personal and professional experiences may affect medical residents' and fellows' confidence in counselling adolescents about sexual health services. Methods We invited 361 residents and fellows (trainees) from paediatric, obstetrics and gynaecology, as well as family medicine programs at an academic medical centre in Texas to complete a survey about confidence in counselling about sexual health services.
