Article Synopsis
  • Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) is reported in 58.33% of older adults, with higher rates in rural areas and among females.
  • The study involved 7,486 participants aged around 71, assessing correlations between SCD and objective cognitive decline (OCD) across various cognitive functions.

Background: The prevalence of dementia in China, particularly in rural areas, is consistently increasing; however, research on population-attributable fractions (PAFs) of risk factors for dementia is scarce.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey, namely, the China Multicentre Dementia Survey (CMDS) in selected rural and urban areas from 2018 to 2020. We performed face-to-face interviews and neuropsychological and clinical assessments to reach a consensus on dementia diagnosis.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of alisol B 23‑acetate (AB23A) on inhibiting the viability and inducing apoptosis of human non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells and the anticancer mechanisms of AB23A in vitro. The viability of A549 cells following treatment with different doses of AB23A was examined using a Cell Counting Kit‑8 assay. Subsequently, apoptosis and the cell cycle were detected using flow cytometric analysis.

Islet cell apoptosis plays an important role in type 2 diabetes. We previously reported that Par-4-mediated islet cell apoptosis is induced by high-glucose/fatty acid levels. In the present study, we show that Par-4, which is induced by high-glucose/fatty acid levels, interacts with and inhibits TERT in the cytoplasm and then translocates to the nucleus.
