Background: Glycemic and cardiovascular risks control in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) managed in primary healthcare (PHC) settings remains challenging in urbanizing areas like Guangzhou. This study analyzes 2018-2022 trends to identify care gaps and inform policy.
Methods: We collected and analyzed real-world data (RWD) from 81,709 adults aged 30 years or older with T2DM who voluntarily participated in health examinations across 24 primary healthcare settings in Baiyun district, Guangzhou.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the severity of lid wiper epitheliopathy (LWE) and ocular surface features and evaluate the potential of LWE as an early diagnosis indicator of dry eye.
Methods: Eighty-eight patients diagnosed with dry eye by TFOS DEWS II were divided into two groups based on the Korb grading: the mild group and the moderate-severe group. Ocular assessments included examination of LWE, tear-film lipid layer thickness (LLT) measurement, partial blinking rate (PBR) calculation, fluorescein tear breakup time (FTBUT) measurement, determining corneal fluorescein staining score, eyelid margin score, and meiboscore.

With high disability and mortality rate as well as highly complex pathogenesis, cerebral ischemia is highly morbid, prone to recurrence. To comprehensively understand the pathophysiological process of cerebral ischemia and to find new therapeutic strategies, a new approach to cerebral ischemia transcriptomics has emerged in recent years. By integrating data from multiple levels of transcriptomics, such as transcriptomics, single-cell transcriptomics, and spatial transcriptomics, this new approach can provide powerful help in revealing the molecular mechanisms of cerebral ischemia occurrence and development.

Aim: To investigate the efficacy and mechanisms of indirect intense pulsed light (IPL) irradiation on meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).
Methods: A total of 60 MGD patients was included in this prospective randomized controlled trial. Patients were randomly assigned 1:1 into two groups (3-mm group and 10-mm group) in which IPL was applied at distances from the lower eyelid margin of 3 and 10 mm, respectively.

The direct regeneration method, recognized for its cost-effectiveness, has garnered considerable attentions in the field of battery recycling. In this study, a novel direct regeneration strategy is proposed to repair spent LiFePO (S-LFP) cathodes without the need for impurity removal. Instead, the residual conductive carbon and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) in S-LFP are employed as inherent reductive agents.

Methods: A total of 137 subjects with ocular surface disease index(OSDI) score ≥13 were divided into the non-DM group, the short-term DM group (duration <5 years), and the mid-to-long-term DM group(duration ≥5 years). Evaluations were conducted for LWE, OSDI, lipid layer thickness (LLT), partial blinking rate (PBR), fluorescein tear breakup time (FTBUT), corneal fluorescein staining score (CFS), eyelid margin score, and meibomian gland dropout (MGd).
Direct regeneration method has been widely concerned by researchers in the field of battery recycling because of its advantages of in situ regeneration, short process and less pollutant emission. In this review, we firstly analyze the primary causes for the failure of three representative battery cathodes (lithium iron phosphate, layered lithium transition metal oxide and lithium cobalt oxide), targeting at illustrating their underlying regeneration mechanism and applicability. Efficient stripping of material from the collector to obtain pure cathode material has become a first challenge in recycling, for which we report several pretreatment methods currently available for subsequent regeneration processes.

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and possible mechanism of action of insulin eye drops in diabetic mice with corneal wounds.
Methods: A type 1 diabetes model was induced, and a corneal epithelial injury model of 2.
Plants must adapt to the complex effects of several stressors brought on by global warming, which may result in interaction and superposition effects between diverse stressors. Few reports are available on how drought stress affects () infection in sugarcane ( spp. hybrids).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFSugarcane (Saccharum spp.) is an important sugar and biofuel crop in the world. It is frequently subjected to drought stress, thus causing considerable economic losses.

Methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane Library were systematically searched from January 2000 to December 2021. We included observational studies to assess the correlation of DED with meibomian gland dysfunction and dyslipidaemia without any language restrictions.
Auxin response factor (ARF) is a critical regulator in the auxin signaling pathway, involved in a variety of plant biological processes. Here, gene members of 24 and 39 were identified in two genomes of clones AP85-441 and Np-X, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis showed that all genes were clustered into four clades, which is identical to those genes in maize () and sorghum ().

Background: Antiviral intervention in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-infected pregnant women can effectively reduce mother-to-child transmission. However, the immunological characteristics of pregnant women with chronic HBV infection and the effects of antiviral intervention during pregnancy on maternal immune response remain unknown. We aimed to investigate these effects by comparing mothers who received antiviral intervention during pregnancy with those who did not.

Recovering lithium from lithium batteries (LIBs) is a promising approach for sustainable ternary lithium battery (T-LIB) development. Current lithium recovery methods from spent T-LIBs mainly concentrated on chemical leaching methods. However, chemical leaching relying on the additional acid seriously threatens the global environment and nonselective leaching also leads to low Li recovery purity.

The tea beverages will be endowed with distinct aroma and taste, as well as various biologically active compounds including probiotic factors, when fermented with lactic acid bacteria (LAB). However, at present, few studies on the dynamics of flavors in tea soup at different fermentation stages were conducted. In this study, the composition of monosaccharides, aromatic components, free amino acids, and organic acids were measured, when the black tea beverages were fermented with FZU63 which was isolated from Chinese traditional kimchi.

Neutrophils remain at the top of congenital and adaptive immune systems. The past 20 years witnessed a steep rise in the interest in neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), which are a novel type of anti-pathogen mechanism coordinated with neutrophils. However, accumulating data revealed that excessive NETs in the host were associated with exacerbated inflammation, thrombosis, and autoimmunity.

Interestingly, a remarkable increase of human, animal, and vertebrate publications related to PBTs appeared in the early 1990s. Despite the authors' attempts to illustrate the anomalies from different perspectives, no rational explanation has been found yet.
