The use of biochar to assist in microbial degradation is seen as key for eliminating organic pollutants. This study examined how biochar affects the degradation of phenol by phenol-degrading bacteria (PDB). The findings indicate that phenol removal reached 82.

Methods: Demographic information was collected using a stratified, cluster, and multi-stage sampling method. Data on PA, PR, HL, and EMA among college students were collected using an online questionnaire.
Purpose: This research was designed to explore whether hope and posttraumatic growth (PTG) played a mediating role between social support and psychological distress in patients diagnosed with lung cancer.
Patients And Methods: A hospital-based cross-sectional study was carried out on 502 lung cancer patients. From September 2023 to April 2024, participants were recruited via convenience sampling from one tertiary cancer hospital and two tertiary general hospitals in Chongqing, China.
Objective: The present study was designed to explore the relationship between physical exercise and sleep quality. Specifically, it investigates the extent to which this relationship is mediated by a sequential process involving health literacy and life satisfaction.
Methods: Data on physical exercise, sleep quality, health literacy, and life satisfaction were collected from a sample of 12,646 college students (study participants) using a questionnaire.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a serious threat worldwide. Although early screening is suggested to be the most effective method to prevent and control CRC, the current situation of early screening for CRC is still not optimistic. In China, the incidence of CRC in the Yangtze River Delta region is increasing dramatically, but few studies have been conducted.

Objective: This study explores whether baicalein attenuates lung fibrosis by regulating lung fibroblast senescence.
Materials And Methods: Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) mice were randomly assigned to control, bleomycin (BLM), baicalein and BLM + baicalein groups.
Objective: To investigate the predictive value of nutritional status on the prognosis of patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection-related lymphoma.
Materials And Methods: A total of 149 patients with HIV infection-related lymphoma who were admitted to our hospital from August 2012 to May 2022 were selected as research subjects. Based on the patient prognosis, they were divided into a poor prognosis group ( = 30) and a good prognosis group ( = 119).

In the production of novel biological products, plasmids are often engineered into delivery vectors for target genes, which can be used directly as vaccines or as intermediate products for gene/cell therapy. Plasmid DNA exists in several topological forms such as supercoiled, linear, and open circular. As supercoiled plasmid shows the highest efficiency in transfecting eukaryotic cells, the content of supercoiled plasmids becomes an important indicator of plasmid quality.

The objective of the present study is to further investigate whether oral glutamine is effective in preventing and treating OM among patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) receiving radiotherapy alone or concurrent with chemotherapy. A systematic search was performed in PubMed, EMBASE, EBSCO, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) to capture all potential citations from the inception to June 2019.

Background: To improve patients' comprehension of bowel preparation instructions before colonoscopy, enhanced patient education (EPE) such as cartoon pictures or other visual aids, phone calls, mobile apps, multimedia education and social media apps have been proposed. However, it is uncertain whether EPE can increase the detection rate of colonic polyps and adenomas.
Objective: This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy of EPE in detecting colonic polyps and adenomas.
Purpose: Previous systematic review suggested a beneficial effect of progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. However, poor quality of eligible studies which included in previous systematic review impaired the reliability and validity of findings. The aim of the present systematic review was to further assess the value of PMR in chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.

Background: Many optical coherence tomography (OCT) studies have reported alterations in the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) in Parkinson's disease (PD) and other neurodegenerative diseases. However, whether retinal alterations are a biomarker for PD is still controversial.
Objective: To investigate potential correlations between PD and morphological changes in retina using OCT and to determine its usefulness as a biomarker of disease progression in PD.

Objective: We aim to report and evaluate the associations between serum sodium and chloride and dyskinesia in patients with Parkinson's disease. One hundred and two patients with Parkinson's disease were enrolled in this study.
Methods: Patients' serum electrolytes including sodium, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and chloride were measured.

Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), a classical hallucinogen, was used as a popular and notorious substance of abuse in various parts of the world. Its abuse could result in long-lasting abnormalities in retina and little is known about the exact mechanism. This study was to investigate the effect of LSD on macrophage activation state at non-toxic concentration and its resultant toxicity to photoreceptor cells.
