Background: Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a widely underutilized secondary cardiovascular disease prevention strategy, due to a variety of barriers to participation that disproportionately impact women, minoritized racial and ethnic groups, and patients with low socioeconomic status. , a virtual world-based CR (VWCR) program designed by our team in collaboration with patients and community members to mitigate the barriers to CR participation, has demonstrated feasibility and acceptability. In anticipation of a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to further validate the intervention, this qualitative descriptive analysis provides insights garnered from a patient/community/stakeholder-advisory board (PCS-AB, HEALERS) focus group series, convened to inform iterative refinements to a RCT protocol.

Background: Left atrial (LA) dissection is a rare, but potentially serious, complication that most commonly arises following mitral valve surgery.

Case Summary: In this report, the authors describe an unusual case of a patient presenting with chest pain and presyncopal symptoms after cardiac surgery who ultimately received a diagnosis of LA dissection and associated complete heart block. Although permanent pacemaker placement was required as a result of recurrent episodes of complete heart block, the patient was otherwise managed safely using a conservative approach without surgical reintervention.

Background And Objectives: Individuals with low income or from minoritized racial or ethnic groups experience a high burden of hypertension and other chronic conditions (eg, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and mental health conditions) and often lack access to specialist care when compared to their more socially advantaged counterparts. We used a mixed-methods approach to describe the deployment of a Remote Collaborative Specialist Panel intervention aimed at the comprehensive and coordinated management of patients with hypertension and comorbid conditions to address health disparities.

Background: We sought to evaluate the associations of chest pain and dyspnea with the long-term risk of cardiovascular disease including coronary disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and stroke.

Methods: In 13,200 participants without cardiovascular disease in the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities study (1987-1989), chest pain was categorized into definite angina, possible angina, non-anginal chest pain, and no chest pain using the Rose questionnaire. CR is traditionally provided in-center, which limits access and engagement, most notably among underrepresented racial and ethnic groups due to barriers including cost, scheduling, and transportation access. Aortic insufficiency is commonly observed in rheumatologic diseases such as ankylosing spondylitis, systemic lupus erythematosus, antiphospholipid syndrome, Behçet's disease, granulomatosis with polyangiitis, and Takayasu arteritis.
