Background: Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) is an incisionless weight loss procedure that has been demonstrated to be safe and effective for the treatment of obesity; however, the efficacy of ESG for the treatment of comorbid type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and other components of metabolic syndrome (MetS) has been less well studied. We aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of available literature to evaluate the outcomes of ESG on T2DM and MetS.

Methods: Bibliographic databases were systematically searched for studies assessing the outcomes of ESG on T2DM and MetS.

Metabolic syndrome among patients with type 2 diabetes in Jordan: A cross-sectional study.

Metabolic syndrome is a major public health problem worldwide and an independent predictor of cardiovascular disease in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). This study aimed to determine the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its individual components among Jordanian patients with T2DM. A cross-sectional design was conducted among T2DM patients at the National Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Genetics in Jordan.

Mutational analysis of the gene in patients with unilateral retinoblastoma.

Purpose: Retinoblastoma, a childhood cancer originating in the retina, is primarily attributed to pathogenic RB1 mutations The aim of this study is to conduct a mutational analysis of the RB1 gene in cases of unilateral Retinoblastoma among individuals within the Jordanian population.

Methods: In this study, the peripheral blood of 50 unilateral Rb patients was collected, genomic DNA was extracted, and mutations were identified using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) analysis.

Results: In this cohort of 50 unrelated patients with unilateral Rb, the median age at diagnosis was eight months (mean, 12 months; range; 2 weeks to 54 months).

Quality and reliability of YouTube videos in Arabic as a source of patient information on prostate cancer.

Background: Prostate cancer remains a major public health challenge in the Arab world with few population-based screening programmes, a high incidence of advanced disease at diagnosis, and limited patient access to sub-specialist care. A large number of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer use the (World Wide Web) internet to learn more about the disease and treatment options; however, material in the Arabic language is scarce. This study aims to objectively assess the quality and reliability of the information on YouTube™, which is the most globally used video platform, pertaining to prostate cancer videos published in Arabic.
