Our study focuses on synthesizing and exploring the potential of three N-(4) substituted thiosemicarbazones derived from cinnamic aldehyde, alongside their Ru(II)-(η -p-cymene)/(η-benzene) complexes. The synthesized compounds were comprehensively characterized using a range of analytical techniques, including FT-IR, UV-visible spectroscopy, NMR (H, C), and HRMS. We investigated their electronic and physicochemical properties via density functional theory (DFT).

Cancer's global impact necessitates innovative and less toxic treatments. Thiosemicarbazones (TSCs), adaptable metal chelators, offer such potential. In this study, we have synthesized N (4)-substituted heterocyclic TSCs from syringaldehyde (TSL1, TSL2), and also report the unexpected copper-mediated cyclization of the TSCs to form thiadiazoles (TSL3, TSL4), expanding research avenues.

In this study, we have tried to analyze the prevalence of airway penetration and aspiration among mechanically ventilated patient who received mechanical ventilation for a period of 48 hours or more.
Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study was done among non-neurologic critically ill patients who had an endotracheal tube for more than 48 hours and who got extubated subsequently.

An isopiestic experimental facility for the measurement of vapor pressures has been designed, fabricated, and commissioned. Using the vapor pressure data as a function of temperature, useful thermodynamic properties of alloys and compounds of interest can be derived. The isopiestic facility comprises a pair of furnaces, temperature controllers, thermocouple movement mechanism, user interface, and data collection.

Thus, tuning of the ground state of superlattices is crucial to further control their physical properties. In this study, superlattices (SLs) consisting of alternating layers of SrRuO (SRO) (5 nm) and LaCaMnO (LCMO) (5 nm) are epitaxially grown on SrTiO (STO) and LaAlO (LAO) substrates with 10-unit-cell periods.

Background: Bifidobacteria levels in saliva were found to be significantly correlated in adults with dental caries but less information available in the literature regarding its role in children.
Aim: The aim is to compare the salivary levels of Bifidobacteria in children who are caries free with that of early childhood caries (ECC) and severe ECC (S-ECC).
Materials And Methods: Saliva was collected using the tongue-loop method from a total of 60 children between the age group of 3-5 years and they were further divided into 3 groups.

Background: Early childhood caries (ECC) is one of the most common dental diseases among the preschoolers, leading to suboptimal health. A study was planned to evaluate the prevalence of ECC in preschool children in the age group between 18 and 72 months and its relationship with parent's education and socioeconomic status of the family.
Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 2771 children selected randomly, in the age group 18-72 months and attending playschools and primary schools in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas of Salem, Tamil Nadu.

The alveolar epithelium is composed of two cell types: type I cells comprise 95% of the gas exchange surface area, whereas type II cells secrete surfactant, while retaining the ability to convert into type I cells to induce alveolar repair. Using lineage-tracing analyses in the mouse model of Pseudomonas aeruginosa-induced lung injury, we identified a population of stem cell antigen (Sca)-1-expressing type II cells with progenitor cell properties that mediate alveolar repair. These cells were shown to be distinct from previously reported Sca-1-expressing bronchioalveolar stem cells.

Aim: The aim of the study is to assess the knowledge and attitude of mothers regarding dental trauma and its management.
Anthropological research relies on skeletal and dental remains for the identification of species. Sexual dimorphism is the systematic difference in form between males and females of the same species. This study is designed to compute a new formula for sex determination using discriminant function analysis in the deciduous crown dimensions of a paediatric population of South Indian origin and to check its accuracy.

The apparatus incorporates a high pressure extraction vessel, reciprocating pumps for delivering supercritical fluid and reagent, a back pressure regulator, and a collection chamber. All these components of the system have been specially designed for glove box adaptation and made modular to facilitate their replacement.

Manganese doped GaN nanowires have been grown by chemical vapour transport method on sapphire (0001) substrates in the temperature range of 800-1050 degrees C. The surface features of nanowires have been investigated using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), Raman scattering studies and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR). SEM images showed that the morphology of the one dimensional materials included straight nanorods and nanowires around 70-80 nm.

Defects in either enzymes depletes biotin utilization by the cells. Holocarboxylase synthetase deficiency is an inherited disorder in which the body is unable to use the vitamin biotin effectively.
