Objective: This study aimed to assess a broader range of psychosocial factors and explore the relationship between fatigue and the Chinese version New Brief Job Stress Questionnaire.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study involving laborers from Occupational Health Services and outpatients at Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital. The self-administered questionnaire included the Checklist Individual Strength and the Chinese version New Brief Job Stress Questionnaire.
Background: Excessive fatigue, sleep deprivation, and poor intershift recovery after night shifts are associated with an increased risk of traffic accidents and maladaptive chronic fatigue. However, little is known about whether taking a nap or break immediately after a night shift improves fatigue recovery and sleep among nurses. This study aimed to examine the effects of taking a 30-min nap or break immediately after a 16-h night shift on fatigue recovery and sleep episodes among nurses.

In this study, we attempt to develop liposomal-spherical nucleic acid (LSNA), which is modified with nucleic acids on the liposomes, that would cause a pH-responsive change in the platform membrane that is effective for drug delivery. pH-responsive function was induced by modifying DNA that forms i-motifs to the lipid membrane surface of liposomes.

Methods: We examined randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that analyzed the effects of physical activity interventions delivered through DHT on workers' health outcomes. We included RCTs published in English or Japanese since 2010 and excluded studies that targeted specific diseases or secondary and tertiary prevention.
Iatrogenic ureteral injury is a rare but serious complication of colorectal cancer surgery. Although prophylactic ureteral catheterization (PUC) is used to facilitate intraoperative ureter identification and reduce the risk of ureteral injury, its efficacy is debated. We aimed to evaluate the clinical utility and outcomes of PUC in colorectal cancer surgery.

Background: Epigenetic alterations, including DNA methylation, significantly contribute to colorectal cancer (CRC); the gut microbiota is also involved. However, studies on the possible role of microbiota in DNA methylation are limited. This study investigates the association between gut microbiota composition and high-methylated CRC (HMCC).

Background: Community gathering places (Kayoi-no-ba) have gained attention for their potential role in maintaining health and preventing nursing care needs among the elderly. This study aimed to analyse the relationship between participation in these gathering places and health outcomes, including new certifications for long-term care (LTC) needs and medical expenses.
Methods: Using data from the National Health Insurance Database of Japan (KDB), 9382 residents aged 65 or older in a city in Japan, who were not certified for LTC in fiscal year 2019, were analysed from 2019 to 2022.
Background: Encouraging physical activity improves mental health and is recommended in workplace mental health guidelines. Although mobile health (mHealth) interventions are promising for physical activity promotion, their impact on mental health outcomes is inconsistent. Furthermore, poor user retention rates of mHealth apps pose a major challenge.

The present study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of circulating cardiac and renal biomarkers and imaging data in 37 small-breed dogs with MMVD using retrospective data obtained from 2018 to 2022. The circulating cardiac biomarkers included N-terminal probrain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), and troponin I.

Design: A cross-sectional study.
Setting: Online survey in August 2023.
Background: Endoscopic phenotypes of pouchitis according to the Chicago Classification have been reported to be associated with poor pouch outcomes in ulcerative colitis (UC). Here, we aimed to assess the prevalence of endoscopic phenotypes and their predictability for pouch outcomes.
Methods: This retrospective multicenter study included UC patients aged 18 years or older who underwent total colectomy between January 2000 and March 2020.
Objectives: There has been limited research on demographic and work-related characteristics of general and workplace loneliness. The present descriptive cross-sectional study aimed to determine the demographic and work-related correlates of general and workplace loneliness in a general working population of Japan.
Methods: We recruited 25 000 persons aged 20 years or older and employed by a company, organization, or government agency.
Aim: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a known contributor to the development of colitis-associated cancer (CAC), although the exact mechanism remains to be elucidated. CAC typically presents as a flat type macroscopically and manifests histologically as mucinous carcinoma and signet ring cell carcinoma. While the relationship between disease duration and chronic inflammation has been studied, the impact of disease duration on CAC outcomes has yet to be thoroughly investigated.

To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of F-NTP compared with F-APR or APR in Japan, a cost-utility analysis was performed.
Methods: A decision tree model was developed based on real-world data to compare the CINV prevention ability of each neurokinin-1 receptor antagonist (NK RA) in Japanese patients receiving cisplatin-based regimens.

Backgrounds: Menstruation-related symptoms are a common and serious health problem even without a specific diagnosis such as premenstrual dysphoric mood disorder (PMDD) or dysmenorrhea. Various adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) might be associated with menstruation-related symptoms, not only traditional traumatic events such as abuse, but also expanded ACEs such as childhood poverty, school bullying, or natural disasters.
Objective: This study examined the association between expanded ACEs (ACEs for Japanese) and menstruation-related symptoms among Japanese working women.
Background: Napping during night shifts is a countermeasure against fatigue and sleepiness, which both impact patient safety. However, there is insufficient evidence on how nurses nap, especially concerning their napping quality. This study explored night-shift napping and its associated factors among nurses, considering napping quantity and quality, to mitigate fatigue and sleepiness.

However, few epidemiological studies have investigated the association of medication use and RO. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of RO and its risk factors, particularly with respect to medication use.

Methods: We analyzed 8956 patients with ALGIB in the Colonic Diverticular Bleeding Leaders Update Evidence From Multicenter Japanese Study (CODE BLUE-J) study and categorized them into 4 groups based on the BSG guidelines. Outcomes included 30-day rebleeding, 30-day mortality, blood transfusion, therapeutic intervention, and severe bleeding.
Objectives: This systematic review aimed to assess the association between psychosocial factors in the workplace and menstrual abnormalities or fertility, focusing on literature implementing a prospective cohort design.
Methods: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsycINFO, PsycARTICLES, and Japan Medical Abstracts Society electronic databases for studies published from inception to February 26, 2020, and updated the search in PubMed on May 29, 2024. Inclusion criteria were (P) adult female workers (over 18 years old), (E) presence of adverse psychosocial factors at work, (C) absence of adverse psychosocial factors at work, and (O) any menstrual cycle disorders, menstrual-related symptoms, or fertility issues.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the performance of generative pre-trained transformer-4 (GPT-4) on the Certification Test for Mental Health Management and whether tuned prompts could improve its performance.
Methods: This study used a 3 × 2 factorial design to examine the performance according to test difficulty (courses) and prompt conditions. We prepared 200 multiple-choice questions (600 questions overall) for each course using the Certification Test for Mental Health Management (levels I-III) and essay questions from the level I test for the previous four examinations.
