Minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, such as dermal fillers, botulinum toxin injections, autologous fat grafting, intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments, are increasingly popular worldwide due to their convenience and aesthetic benefits. While generally considered safe, these procedures can result in rare but serious ophthalmological complications. The most catastrophic adverse events include central retinal artery occlusion and ischemic optic neuropathy, which may lead to irreversible vision loss.

The consensus between the Spanish Society of Retina and Vitreous, the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy and the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology on the preparation, distribution, and administration of intraocular medications is presented, which expands the SEO-SEFH Consensus on recommendations for use and preparation of ophthalmic preparations achieved and published in 2018 in the journal "Farmacia Hospitalaria". Initially, each society appointed at least two members to form the working group that defined the objectives of the consensus. After that, they carried out a bibliographic search of both scientific articles and documentation from regulatory agencies and manufacturers to write a first draft by internal consensus.

In this article, we present three cases diagnosed with active choroidal neovascularization (CNV): two cases diagnosed with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), and one case with myopic CNV in an elderly eye that presented a characteristic and unique optical coherence tomography (OCT) sign consisting of well-defined, circular-shaped multiple concentric layers of alternating iso-hyperreflective material located between the external limiting membrane and outer photoreceptor layers, which seems to be a multilayered bacillary layer detachment (BALAD).
