Background: Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is one of the common chronic complications of diabetes mellitus, which has developed into the leading cause of irreversible visual impairment in adults worldwide. The Compound Qilian Tablets (CQLT) were developed in China for the treatment and prevention of DR, but their mechanism of action still needs to be clarified.

Objectives: In the present study, network pharmacology, molecular docking, and in vivo validation experiments were used to investigate the active components and molecular mechanisms of CQLT against DR.

The cold/hot properties of Chinese materia medica (CMM) are the core theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). This study aims to investigate the cold/hot properties of CMM and find the possible mechanisms related to CMM properties using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS)-based metabolomics combined with network pharmacology analysis. Typical cold and hot CMMs were given to mice by intragastric administration.

Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the common chronic complications of diabetes mellitus, which has developed into the leading cause of irreversible visual impairment in adults worldwide. Compound Qilian tablets (CQLT) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) developed for treating DR, but its mechanism is still unclear. This study explored the mechanism of action of CQLT in treating DR through metabolomics and intestinal microbiota.
