Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Wenyang Xiaozheng Decoction (WYXZ), a traditional Chinese medicine formula based on the principles of "warming Yang and resolving blood stasis," has been clinically shown to improve renal function in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the precise mechanisms underlying its therapeutic effects remain to be elucidated.
Aim Of The Study: To investigate whether WYXZ alleviates renal fibrosis by modulating macrophage polarization via JAK2/STAT3 signaling.
Diabetic Kidney Disease (DKD) is one of the most common microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus and an important cause of end-stage renal disease, with a complex pathogenesis and a lack of effective treatment. Lipid metabolism disorders play a key role in the progression of DKD, mainly by inducing mitochondrial dysfunction which in turn promotes renal injury. In recent years, natural products have shown great promise in improving lipid metabolism and mitochondrial homeostasis by virtue of their advantages of multi-targeting and low toxicity.

The gut microbiome plays a significant role in dialysis. As disease progresses, the choice of dialysis method and dietary habits change, and the diversity and richness of the gut microbiome in patients on dialysis change as well. The uremic toxins produced exacerbate inflammatory responses and oxidative stress, leading to markedly different incidence rates of complications such as cardiovascular disease and dialysis-associated peritonitis among patients on dialysis.

Three cationic polyelectrolytes polyethyleneimine ethoxylate (PEIE)-1,4-butanediol dimethylsulfonate (MSB), PEIE-1,4-butanediol diethylsulfonate (ESB), and PEIE-1,4-butanediol dibenzylsulfonate (BSB), containing methylsulfonate, ethylsulfonate, and benzylsulfonate, respectively, were prepared for cathode interface layers (CILs) via a one-step reaction with 1,4-butanediol dialkylsulfonate and PEIE as the reactants. The results indicate that PEIE-MSB and PEIE-ESB with smaller counterions possess more efficient electron extraction, higher electron mobilities, and better photovoltaic performance than PEIE-BSB with larger counterions. The PTB7-Th:PCBM-based single junction bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells (PSCs) with PEIE-ESB as the CIL showed power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 10.

A novel series of linear tripeptide inhibitors that are very potent and selective against the NS3 protease are described. A substantial contribution to the potency of these linear inhibitors arises from the introduction of a C8 substituent on the B-ring of the quinoline moiety found on the P2 of these inhibitors.
