The soybean weevil, Rhyssomatus nigerrimus (Fahraeus) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is an economically damaging pest on soybean in Mexico. Adult weevils are managed with insecticides. Reduced risk management could include the development of traps for monitoring.

Decoupling of Temperature and Strain Effects on Optical Fiber-Based Measurements of Thermomechanical Loaded Printed Circuit Board Assemblies.

This study investigated the use of distributed optical fiber sensing to measure temperature and strain during thermomechanical processes in printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing. An optical fiber (OF) was bonded to a PCB for simultaneous measurement of temperature and strain. Optical frequency-domain reflectometry was used to interrogate the fiber optic sensor.

Statistical Evaluation of Metaproteomics and 16S rRNA Amplicon Sequencing Techniques for Study of Gut Microbiota Establishment in Infants with Cystic Fibrosis.

Newborn screening for cystic fibrosis (CF) can identify affected but asymptomatic infants. The selection of omic technique for gut microbiota study is crucial due to both the small amount of feces available and the low microorganism load. Our aims were to compare the agreement between 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing and metaproteomics by a robust statistical analysis, including both presence and abundance of taxa, to describe the sequential establishment of the gut microbiota during the first year of life in a small size sample (8 infants and 28 fecal samples).

Rheologically Assisted Design of Conductive Adhesives for Stencil Printing on PCB.

Driven by the need to deliver new, lead-free, eco-friendly solder pastes for soldering electronic components to Printed Circuit Boards (PCB), electrically conductive adhesives (ECAs) based on epoxy, carbon nanotubes (CNT), and exfoliated graphite (EG) were designed. The rheology of the adhesives prepared is paramount for the success of the deposition process, which is based on stencil printing. Thus, a rheological analysis of the process was first performed.

The Spanish Version of the Fear of Kidney Failure Questionnaire: Validity, Reliability, and Characterization of Living Donors With the Highest Fear of Kidney Failure.

Background: Measures of fear of progression or recurrence of illnesses have been criticized for neglecting cross-cultural validity. Therefore, we assessed the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Fear of Kidney Failure Questionnaire (FKFQ), to determine whether postdonation fear of kidney failure (FKF) influenced the donors' psychosocial status, and define variables that characterized donors with high FKFQ scores.

Methods: We included 492 participants (211 donors) in a multicenter, 11-year, retrospective, cross-sectional study.

Identification and description of controlled clinical trials in Spanish language dental journals.

Background: To identify controlled clinical trials (CCTs) published in Spanish and in Latin American dental journals, and provide access to this body of evidence in a single source.

Methods: Handsearching, following Cochrane Collaboration guidelines, of CCTs published in Spanish dental journals from Spain and Latin America. For each eligible trial, we collected the dental specialty, the interventions evaluated, whether and how randomisation was achieved, and the corresponding bibliographic reference.

Antibiotic resistance and population structure of cystic fibrosis Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from a Spanish multi-centre study.

The first Spanish multi-centre study on the microbiology of cystic fibrosis (CF) was conducted from 2013 to 2014. The study involved 24 CF units from 17 hospitals, and recruited 341 patients. The aim of this study was to characterise Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates, 79 of which were recovered from 75 (22%) patients.

Complete pulmonary vein isolation using balloon cryoablation in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.

Electrical isolation of the pulmonary veins and disconnection of the left atrial musculature from their arrhythmogenic effects is the cornerstone of definitive and curative treatment in patients with symptomatic recurrent paroxysmal atrial fibrillation that is refractory to antiarrhythmic therapy. The type of lesion produced by balloon cryoablation is such that the tissue architecture is preserved and thrombus formation and the risk of pulmonary vein stenosis are reduced. We report on immediate outcomes in the first five patients who underwent treatment.

Prophylactic closure of trocar orifices with an intraperitoneal mesh (ventralex) in laparoscopic bariatric surgery.

Laparoscopic surgery reduces, but not eliminates, the rate of incisional hernia. It is accepted that large trocar orifices should be sutured, in order to prevent future herniation. In morbidly obese patients, the closure of the anterior fascia is a very difficult job, and it does not prevent from preperitoneal herniation.

[Stage IIIA and IIIB non-small cell lung cancer: results of chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy and analysis of prognostic factors].

Objective: Most patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are not candidates for surgery but can benefit from chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy. The objective of the present study was to analyze the results of sequential chemotherapy and radiation therapy and the prognostic value of initial clinical and laboratory variables.

Patients And Methods: We carried out a retrospective study of 92 patients with stage III NSCLC treated with a sequential regimen of chemotherapy (carboplatin-etoposide, carboplatin-gemcitabine, and carboplatin-paclitaxel), and radiation therapy (6000 cGy in daily doses of 200 cGy, 5 d/wk).
