Background: Gelatinous pleural effusions, a rare subtype of exudative effusions with elevated viscosity due to high hyaluronic acid levels, are often associated with malignancies, particularly malignant pleural mesothelioma and some metastatic cancers. Such effusions present unique challenges in both diagnosis and management due to their thickness, which complicates drainage using standard techniques. This case highlights the clinical significance of recognizing unusual pleural fluid characteristics and employing advanced drainage interventions, particularly in metastatic lung adenocarcinoma.

Presentation severity can range from low-grade fever and cough to life-threatening acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Due to the rarity of these conditions, no large sample studies have been performed to assess the characteristics of patients with pulmonary eosinophilia.

Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic review was conducted across multiple databases using specific keywords and controlled vocabulary. The search strategy, implemented until October 1, 2023, aimed to identify studies examining fluid resuscitation in ESRD patients with sepsis.

Multiple noninvasive means have been used to study the effectiveness of volume resuscitation, but none of them have been used as gold standard. We aim to illustrate the most used techniques: left ventricular outflow tract velocity time integral versus inferior vena cava compressibility index, and highlight their limitations and strengths.

Ionized calcium, known as clotting Factor IV, may lead to overt coagulation cascade activation, increasing the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). National Inpatient Sample Database was used to sample individuals with primary hyperparathyroidism, and baseline demographics and comorbidities were collected using ICD-10 codes.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (Afib) is one of the most common and significant risk factors for stroke, with the CHADsVAsc score used as the tool for stroke risk assessment. Pulmonary hypertension (PH) has not been studied as an independent risk factor for stroke in individuals with Afib.
Methods: In this retrospective case-control study, National Inpatient Sample Database was used to sample individuals with atrial fibrillation, and baseline demographics and comorbidities were collected using ICD-10 codes.
COVID-19 first emerged in Wuhan, China in late December 2019. The disease majorly involves the lungs leading to various respiratory complications; however, neurological manifestations of the disease are also described in the literature. Here, we report a case of COVID-19-induced seronegative myasthenia gravis (MG).
