Identification of the etiological agent in severe pneumonia is limited by factors such as the poor yield from blood samples and the presence of colonizers in the respiratory tract. Samples from the lower respiratory tract could be more representative of the etiological agent causing pneumonia. We conducted a case-control study to determine the etiology of community-acquired severe pneumonia requiring intubation.

We followed up patients after an episode of acute COVID-19 for 1 year after hospital discharge from different parts of India.
Methods: This was a multi-centric study among patients ≥18 years hospitalized with COVID-19, which recruited patients at 6 weeks after hospital discharge (baseline).
Objective: To compare perioperative and oncological outcomes between stapler and manual closure in patients undergoing total laryngectomy for advanced endolaryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
Methods: Patients with advanced endolaryngeal tumours operated between July 2017 and July 2023 were retrospectively dichotomised into stapler closure and manual closure cohorts and compared.
Results: Seventy-one patients with a median age of 57 years were included in our study.

Introduction: Chemotherapy, postchemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (pcRPLND), and metastasectomy remain the standard of care for the management of advanced nonseminomatous germ cell tumor (NSGCT).
Methods: We retrospectively studied 73 patients who had pcRPLND at a single tertiary-care center (2003-2022). Surgical and clinicopathological features and oncological outcomes are presented.
Introduction: Squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC Ag) is a sub-fraction of the tumor antigen TA-4, first isolated by Kato and Torigoe, the most commonly used tumor marker in cervical cancer. It can be used as a serum marker to detect residual disease, early local recurrence, or distant metastasis in locally advanced cervical cancer even before the clinical symptoms of recurrence or metastasis.
Methods And Materials: Between January 2018 and August 2018, 30 patients with squamous cell carcinoma cervix (FIGO) stages IB2-IVA, who received concurrent chemoradiation, followed by brachytherapy, were included in the study.

Background: Crushed formulations of specific antiplatelet agents produce earlier and stronger platelet inhibition. We studied the platelet inhibitory effect of crushed clopidogrel in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and its relative efficacy compared with integral clopidogrel, crushed and integral ticagrelor.
Objectives: We aimed to compare the platelet inhibitory effect of crushed and integral formulations of clopidogrel and ticagrelor in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Background: To examine the associations of total and regional adiposity with metabolic and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk markers.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 1080 (53.8% men, aged 39-44 years) individuals from South India.
Background: Common mental disorders (CMD) cause a range of health, social and economic burden, and disorders like depression and anxiety are more prevalent among women. Prevalence and factors contributing to increased vulnerability for CMDs have regional variation. Identification of factors contributing to the vulnerability is essential to both psychiatric epidemiology and in addressing mental health challenges in the community.

High myoglobin levels cause acute kidney injury (AKI). Trauma is the most common cause of RM and development of complications related to the degree of myoglobin released.

Recent reports show postoperative parathormone (PTH) is unreliable in predicting post-thyroidectomy hypocalcemia in vitamin D deficient patients. We conducted this study to analyze the role of vitamin D status in the development of post-thyroidectomy hypocalcemia and to evaluate its effect on the predictability of PTH as a marker for post-thyroidectomy hypocalcemia.
