Utility of Sleep Questionnaires for Detecting Sleep Apnea in Ischemic Stroke Patients.

Background And Objectives: Sleep-disordered breathing is highly prevalent in stroke patients. It is associated with recurrence of stroke and poor neurologic outcomes. Polysomnography (PSG), the gold standard for diagnosing sleep apnea, may not be feasible for routine evaluation in stroke patients.

Giant seborrheic keratosis of the genitalia with an unusual histopathological finding.

Seborrheic keratosis (SK) of the external genitalia is a rare entity which can be easily misinterpreted as genital warts. Histopathology is a useful tool to make a diagnosis in such cases. We report a 62-year-old male who presented with multiple polypoidal lesions exclusively on the external genitalia.

The itching, burning eye: diagnostic algorithm and management options.

The healthy ocular surface is a complex, composite unit that is essential for patient comfort and visual function. A number of components need to work in an integrated manner to ensure that this is achieved, and a variety of causes can result in the final common symptom complex that can be termed the itching, burning eye. Many of these causes may be due to relatively common and simple issues related to lid disease, allergies, tear dysfunction, excessive computer use, exposure to polluted environment, and convergence problems.

Excimer laser phototherapeutic keratectomy: indications, results and its role in the Indian scenario.

Purpose: To report indications, technique, and results of excimer phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK), and describe possible reasons for the small numbers of such procedures performed in a referral institute in India.

Methods: Retrospective review of case records of 10 patients (11 eyes) who underwent excimer PTK at our institute between February 1994 and September 1997.

Results: Corneal scars were the most common indication for treatment.
