Here, we differentiated human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) from three different healthy donors into neural stem cells (NSCs) and floor plate progenitors (FPPs; progenitors of dopaminergic neurons) and further performed intracellular and extracellular vesicles' (EVs) miRNA profiling. While NSC and FPP cells differed significantly in levels of only 8 intracellular miRNAs, their differences were more evident in the EV miRNAs with 27 differentially expressed miRNAs.

Introduction: The profile of genetic and nongenetic factors associated with progression to kidney failure (KF) in steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) is largely unknown in admixed populations.
Methods: A total of 101 pediatric patients with primary SRNS were genetically assessed targeting Mendelian causes and status with a 62-NS-gene panel or whole exome sequencing, as well as genetic ancestry. Variant pathogenicity was evaluated using the American College Medical of Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) criteria.

Introduction: The Unfolded Protein Response, a mechanism triggered by the cell in response to Endoplasmic reticulum stress, is linked to inflammatory responses. Our aim was to identify novel Unfolded Protein Response-mechanisms that might be involved in triggering or perpetuating the inflammatory response carried out by the Intestinal Epithelial Cells in the context of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Methods: We analyzed the transcriptional profile of human Intestinal Epithelial Cell lines treated with an Endoplasmic Reticulum stress inducer (thapsigargin) and/or proinflammatory stimuli.
Sézary syndrome (SS) is a rare and aggressive type of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, with an abnormal inflammatory response in affected skin. The cytokines IL-1B and IL-18, as key signaling molecules in the immune system, are produced in an inactive form and cleave to the active form by inflammasomes. In this study, we assessed the skin, serum, peripheral mononuclear blood cell (PBMC) and lymph-node samples of SS patients and control groups (healthy donors (HDs) and idiopathic erythroderma (IE) nodes) to investigate the inflammatory markers IL-1B and IL-18 at the protein and transcript expression levels, as potential markers of inflammasome activation.

Background: Glomerulopathy with fibronectin deposits is an autosomal dominant disease associated with proteinuria, hematuria, hypertension and renal function decline. Forty percent of the cases are caused by mutations in FN1, the gene that encodes fibronectin.
Case Presentation: This report describes two cases of Glomerulopathy with fibronectin deposits, involving a 47-year-old father and a 14-year-old son.
Unlabelled: High-fat diet increase two to three times the plasma lipopolysaccharide (LPS) levels and induce subclinical inflammation. Background: Although most of cases of dengue infections are asymptomatic or mild symptomatic some individuals present warning signs progressing to severe dengue in which plasma leakage is a hallmark.
Methodology/principal Findings: The present study used Electric Cell-substrate Impedance Sensing (ECIS®) which allows for electrical monitoring of cellular barrier function measuring changes in Transendothelial Electric Resistance (TEER) to investigate the parameters associated with dengue induced leakage. Three groups of individuals were tested: dengue-positives with plasma leakage (leakage), dengue-positives without plasma leakage (no leakage), and dengue-negatives (control).

Background: Chagas disease, caused by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi, is endemic in Latin America and affects 10 million people worldwide. Approximately 12000 deaths attributable to Chagas disease occur annually due to chronic Chagas disease cardiomyopathy (CCC), an inflammatory cardiomyopathy presenting with heart failure and arrythmia; 30% of infected subjects develop CCC years after infection. Genetic mechanisms play a role in differential progression to CCC, but little is known about the role of epigenetic modifications in pathological gene expression patterns in CCC patients' myocardium.

Chagas disease is caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, and it begins with a short acute phase characterized by high parasitemia followed by a life-long chronic phase with scarce parasitism. Cardiac involvement is the most prominent manifestation, as 30% of infected subjects will develop abnormal ventricular repolarization with myocarditis, fibrosis and cardiomyocyte hypertrophy by undefined mechanisms. Nevertheless, follow-up studies in chagasic patients, as well as studies with murine models, suggest that the intensity of clinical symptoms and pathophysiological events that occur during the acute phase of disease are associated with the severity of cardiac disease observed during the chronic phase.
