Background: Hominis placenta (HP) exhibits anti-inflammatory, antiviral and nerve growth-promoting properties; however, there are limited studies about HP therapy in the treatment of temporomandibular disorder (TMD).
Objective: To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of HP therapy with that of physical therapy (PT) in patients with TMD.
Methods: This cost-effectiveness analysis was conducted alongside a 26-week multicentre pragmatic randomised controlled trial (RCT).
Background: Hominis placental (HPP) extract has been approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in Korea for treating chronic liver diseases and postmenopausal syndrome. However, its efficacy and safety for treating chronic temporomandibular disorder (TMD) remains unclear. We aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of HPP for treating chronic TMD compared with physical therapy (PT).

Objective(s): This study aimed to estimate minimum clinically important difference (MCID) and substantial clinical benefit (SCB) among a large and diverse patient population regarding sex and age.
Methods: In this study, 162 patients participated from five hospitals.
Background And Purpose: This parallel, single-center, pragmatic, randomized controlled study aimed to investigate the effectiveness and safety of motion style acupuncture treatment (MSAT; a combination of acupuncture and Doin therapy) to reduce pain and improve the functional disability of patients with acute low back pain (aLBP) due to road traffic accidents.
Materials And Methods: Ninety-six patients with aLBP admitted to the Haeundae Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine in South Korea due to traffic accidents were treated with integrative Korean medicine (IKM) with additional 3-day MSAT sessions during hospitalization (MSAT group, 48 patients) or without (control group, 48 patients), and followed up for 90 days.
Results: The mean numeric rating scale (NRS) scores of low back pain (LBP) of the MSAT and control groups were both 6.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the cost utility of pharmacopuncture in comparison with usual care for patients with chronic neck pain.
Methods: A 12-week, multicenter, pragmatic randomized controlled trial was conducted, and 101 patients suffering from chronic neck pain for more than six months were randomly placed into the pharmacopuncture and usual care groups to receive four weeks of treatment and 12 weeks of follow-up observations. The quality-adjusted life year (QALY) was calculated using EQ-5D and SF-6D.

Previous studies have reported pain reduction after Korean medicine (KM) treatment in patients with fractures. However, these studies were limited by small sample sizes and short observation periods. To address these limitations, we aimed to analyze the outcomes of patients with traumatic fractures who received integrative KM treatment and investigate their long-term progress through follow-up observations.

Patients And Methods: This study was a pilot, two-armed, parallel pragmatic randomized controlled trial. Thirty patients aged 19-70 years with a numeric rating scale (NRS) score ≥5 for sciatica and confirmed LDH on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were included.
Background: The machine-specific reference (msr) correction factors ( ) were introduced in International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Technical Report Series 483 (TRS-483) for reference dosimetry of small fields. Several correction factor sets exist for a Leksell Gamma Knife (GK) Perfexion or Icon. Nevertheless, experiments have not rigorously validated the correction factors from different studies.

Methods: We used data from the 2015-2017 Korean Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service National Patient Sample.
This study aimed to compare the cost-effectiveness of manual therapy and usual care for patients with chronic neck pain. A cost-utility analysis alongside a pragmatic randomized controlled trial was conducted in five South Korean hospitals. Data were procured from surveys and nationally representative data.

This study investigated the time-dependent characteristics of acupuncture and analyzed the association between acupuncture utilization and mortality rates, readmission rates, and complications among ischemic stroke patients. Data from the National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort 2.0 from South Korea were used to track patients with subacute and chronic ischemic stroke, who had survived more than one month after onset, between 2010 and 2013.

Objective: This study aimed to analyse the TMD treatment trends and patterns according to patient characteristics in Korea over a 9-year period.
Methods: The 2010-2018 Korean Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service National Patient Sample data were used.
Purpose: Cervical myelopathy (CM) is generally considered an indication for surgery in Western medicine. Case reports have indicated that Korean medicine (KM) treatments are effective in improving CM-associated symptoms. We investigated the effectiveness of non-surgical KM treatment of CM patients through a retrospective chart review and follow-up survey.

Context: Conservative treatment is effective for treating and managing herniated lumbar disc with radiating leg pain.
Objectives: To investigate the effects of motion style acupuncture treatment (MSAT) on the pelvic joint for this condition.
Design: This prospective observational study was a pilot study for a future randomized, controlled trial (RCT).
Background: There has been little investigation on how guidelines for allergic rhinitis (AR) treatment are applied in current clinical practice. We aimed to analyze prescription trends and patterns for AR treatment according to patient characteristics over a 9-year period in Korea.
Methods: We used cross-sectional data from the Korean Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service National Patient Sample from 2010 to 2018.

Objective: To determine whether pain is associated with gait instability in patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH).
Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study used data from electronic medical records. Among patients with lumbar back pain caused by LDH between January 2017 and July 2019, patients that underwent gait analysis were included.
Continuity of care is a core dimension of high-quality care in the management of disease. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between continuity of care and lumbar surgery in patients with moderate disc herniation. The Korean National Sample Cohort was used.

Licorice and dried ginger decoction (Gancao-ganjiang-tang, LGD) is used for nausea and anorexia, accompanied by excessive sweating in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Herein, we investigated the therapeutic effects of LGD using the activity-based anorexia (ABA) in a mouse model. Six-week-old female BALB/c AnNCrl mice were orally administered LGD, water, licorice decoction, dried ginger decoction, or chronic olanzapine, and their survival, body weight, food intake, and wheel activity were compared in ABA.

In this new technique, an accelerating RF cavity provides a phase-dependent transverse kick to the electrons, resulting in the linear coupling of the trajectory angle with the longitudinal position inside the bunch. This method does not require additional devices on the beamline since it uses an existing accelerating cavity for the projection of the temporal distribution to the transverse direction.

Accelerator Based Neutron Sources (ABNS) have been studied for their utility in materials research as well as for boron neutron captured therapy. By making significant efforts to study the (p,n) and (d,n) nuclear reactions, the specifications of the accelerator system have been determined. In this paper, we compare the design results for two types of radio frequency quadrupole (RFQ) accelerators to provide proton and deuteron beams, respectively.
