Background/objectives: Despite advancements in early diagnosis and clinical practices guided by standardized care protocols, Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is marked by an unfavorable prognosis with a 5-year relative survival rate of 65%, based primarily on data collected prior to the introduction of immunotherapy. Regional nodal metastases affect 40-50% of MCC patients, while approximately 33% experience distant dissemination. Among these, bone and bone marrow metastases are particularly notable, although the characteristics and clinical implications of this metastatic disease in MCC remain poorly understood.

When CM mimics SK, they are defined as seborrheic keratosis-like melanoma (SKLM), and a delayed diagnosis and treatment can occur.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective descriptive, monocentric study of the epidemiological, clinical, videodermoscopy (VDS), and reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) characteristics of histopathologically proven SKLM diagnosed between 2018 and 2024.
Cutaneous melanoma is one of the most lethal forms of skin cancer, and its incidence is increasing globally. Its diagnosis typically relies on manual histopathological examination, a process that is both complex and time consuming. In this study, we propose an automated diagnostic tool, capable of generating interpretable results to aid clinical decision-making.

/: Long-term outcome data of locally advanced basal cell carcinoma patients who achieve complete response (CR) on hedgehog pathway inhibitors (HHIs) are lacking, highlighting a gap in the identification of the predictors of tumor recurrence. We aimed to investigate the clinical and histological factors associated with locally advanced BCC recurrence after CR on HHIs. : We performed a retrospective multicenter observational study at 14 Italian tertiary referral centers (1 January 2016-1 March 2024).

Introduction: High-dose brachytherapy using a non-sealed Rhenium resin (Re) is a new treatment option for difficult-to-treat basal cell carcinoma (BCC) that ensures a radical oncological outcome minimizing side effects.
Objectives: The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of high-dose standardized brachytherapy using an unsealed Re in the management of difficult-to-treat BCCs and to evaluate the risk factors of relapses.
Methods: Between October 2017 and December 2022, patients affected by difficult-to-treat BCC were selected.

Background: Melanoma of the sole is an aggressive rare form, often diagnosed late. Plantar atypical nevi (pAN) are frequently misdiagnosed as plantar early melanomas (pEM) and therefore excised. Our aim was to develop a clinical-dermoscopic risk-scoring model to help discriminate these plantar atypical melanocytic lesions (pAMLs).

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been shown to be a safe and highly effective treatment for Bowen's disease. We report two cases of patients with palpebral Bowen's disease successfully treated with PDT. Although surgery remains the preferred treatment for challenging sites such as the periocular area, PDT in select cases may represent a good therapeutic option.

This review synthesizes recent advancements in molecular and clinicopathological predictors, with a particular focus on liquid biopsy and gene expression profiling (GEP) tools. Emerging evidence highlights the significant role of miRNAs in melanoma progression, metastatic potential, and lymphatic spread.

Cutaneous melanoma (CM) and pancreatic cancer are aggressive tumors whose incidences are rapidly increasing in the last years. This review aims to provide a complete and update description about mutational landscape in CM and pancreatic cancer, focusing on similarities of these two apparently so different tumors in terms of site, type of cell involved, and embryonic origin. The familial forms of CM and pancreatic cancers are often characterized by a common mutated gene, namely CDKN2A.

Background: Basosquamous carcinoma (BSC) is a rare and aggressive nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) that exhibits features of both BCC and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The gold standard for diagnosis is histopathological examination. BSC is often challenging to diagnose and manage due to its mixed histological features and potential for aggressive behavior AIM: To identify specific features aiding clinicians in differentiating BSCs using non-invasive diagnostic techniques.
