Objective: We aimed to compare the incidence of motoric cognitive risk syndrome (MCR)-a pre-dementia syndrome that is identified by a combination of slowed gait speed and cognitive complaints-and previous mild parkinsonian signs (MPS) in older adults without Parkinson disease who do not have dementia.
Design: Prospective cohort study.
Setting And Participants: The study included community-dwelling older individuals (≥65 years) who did not have MCR at baseline.
Introduction: Presence of cardiovascular disease is linked to the prevalence and incidence of Motoric Cognitive Risk syndrome (MCR), a pre-dementia syndrome characterized by cognitive complaints and slow gait. Electrocardiograms (ECGs) may offer a cost-effective, non-invasive, and reliable method for detecting cardiovascular abnormalities in individuals with MCR. This approach can not only diagnose cardiovascular disease but also facilitate timely interventions to prevent further cognitive decline in MCR cases.

Background: The 5-Cog paradigm is a 5-minute brief cognitive assessment coupled with a clinical decision support tool designed to improve clinicians' early detection of cognitive impairment, including dementia, in their diverse older primary care patients. The 5-Cog battery uses picture- and symbol-based assessments and a questionnaire. It is low cost, simple, minimizes literacy bias, and is culturally fair.

Unlabelled: The subjective happiness scale (SHS) is a brief instrument used to measure global subjective happiness that has been translated from its original English to many other languages. To date, there is no reported translation of this scale into Malayalam, a language spoken by over 32 million people especially in the southern state of Kerala, India. In the present study, 656 community-dwelling older adults participating in the Kerala Einstein study (KES) completed the Malayalam version of the SHS.

With technological advances allowing for increased international collaboration within the medical and research communities, challenges often arise from such partnerships, including linguistic, cultural, and physical barriers. A notable challenge for supervising neuropsychologists in international projects is the physical distance from RAs, sites, and materials, making training/supervision of RAs and monitoring test data quite challenging.

Background: The apathy evaluation scale (AES) measures apathy, but its usefulness as a screening tool in diverse populations is limited without translation into more languages. To date, there is no reported translation of the AES into Malayalam, a language spoken by over 32 million people in the southern Indian state of Kerala. In the present study, we aimed to validate the Malayalam version of the AES.

Objective: Motoric cognitive risk (MCR) syndrome, a predementia syndrome characterized by slow gait and subjective cognitive concerns, is associated with multiple age-related risk factors. We hypothesized that MCR is associated with biological age acceleration. We examined the associations of biological age acceleration with MCR, and mortality risk in MCR cases.
