Introduction: Advancements in prenatal care have underscored the importance of understanding postnatal outcomes and prognosis in sacrococcygeal teratoma (SCT). However, giant SCTs continue to pose surgical challenges and are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. A clear, objective threshold for defining a "large" tumor relative to the patient's size remains undefined.

Unlabelled: , a wheat U-box E3 ligase gene, was isolated and characterized for its role in drought stress tolerance. The gene encodes a 531 amino acid protein with a U-box domain at the N-terminal and a WD40 domain at the C-terminal. Subcellular localization studies using TaPRP19-GFP fusion in confirmed predominant nucleus localization.

Heat stress significantly impacts plant growth and productivity by causing protein misfolding, oxidative damage, and disruptions in cellular homeostasis. This stress is particularly critical during flowering and grain-filling stages, where even brief exposure to high temperatures can result in severe yield losses. Plants have evolved complex molecular mechanisms to mitigate heat stress, including the activation of heat shock proteins and the ubiquitin-proteasome system to maintain protein quality and cellular function.

Background: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is the only treatment option that can stabilize patients with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) with severe pulmonary hypertension. This study assessed the effects of a multidisciplinary ECMO team approach (META) as part of a quality improvement initiative aimed at enhancing the survival rates of neonates with CDH.

Methods: The medical records of infants with CDH treated at a tertiary center were retrospectively reviewed.

The Korean Gynecologic Oncology Group (KGOG) was established in 2002 and is the only organization in Korea conducting multi-center clinical trials for gynecologic cancers. Since its re-establishment as a non-profit organization in 2021, KGOG has grown significantly, now including 207 gynecologic oncology specialists from 76 hospitals. This growth is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all those involved in the organization.

Galectin-9 (Gal-9) is a multifaceted regulator of various pathophysiologic processes that exerts positive or negative effects in a context-dependent manner. In this study, we elucidated the distinctive functional properties of Gal-9 on myeloid cells within the brain tumor microenvironment (TME). Gal-9-expressing cells were abundant at the hypoxic tumor edge in the tumor-bearing ipsilateral hemisphere compared with the contralateral hemisphere in an intracranial mouse brain tumor model.

Objective: To evaluate whether the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) from initial 18F-FDG PET/CT (fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography) scans could be a predictor of complete response and recurrence in patients with endometrial cancer who are undergoing fertility sparing management.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of patients who were diagnosed with endometrial cancer through biopsy and chose to undergo fertility sparing management using progestin at the Asan Medical Center, from January 2011 to December 2020. Of these, 113 patients who had an 18-FDG-PET/CT scan before starting treatment were included in our study.

We developed an attention model to predict future adverse glycemic events 30 min in advance based on the observation of past glycemic values over a 35 min period. The proposed model effectively encodes insulin administration and meal intake time using Time2Vec (T2V) for glucose prediction. The proposed impartial feature selection algorithm is designed to distribute rewards proportionally according to agent contributions.

  • - Sirolimus has been identified as a safe and effective treatment for complicated lymphatic malformations (LMs), with a focus on assessing its effectiveness and safety for patients undergoing this therapy.
  • - A study involving 58 patients, mostly young children, showed that 79.3% experienced a reduction in LM volume or clinical symptoms after at least 6 months of sirolimus treatment, with no significant toxicities observed.
  • - The findings suggest that sirolimus could be considered a first-line treatment for complicated LMs, particularly benefiting younger patients and those who haven't responded to other therapies.

Background: Bulky or multiple lymph node (LN) metastases are associated with poor prognosis in cervical cancer, and the size or number of LN metastases is not yet reflected in the staging system and therapeutic strategy. Although the therapeutic effects of surgical resection of bulky LNs before standard treatment have been reported in several retrospective studies, well-planned randomized clinical studies are lacking. Therefore, the aim of the Korean Gynecologic Oncology Group (KGOG) 1047/DEBULK trial is to investigate whether the debulking surgery of bulky or multiple LNs prior to concurrent chemoradiation therapy (CCRT) improves the survival rate of patients with cervical cancer IIICr diagnosed by imaging tests.
