Objective: We aimed to identify the main oncogenic pathway by histological type of ovarian cancer based on Next-generation sequencing (NGS) test and to determine the correlation with clinical prognosis.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 420 patients with ovarian cancer who underwent NGS testing at Asan Medical Center from June 1, 2017, to May 31, 2021. Identified mutations were categorized into seven oncogenic pathways that are most frequently associated with ovarian cancer.
Introduction: Advancements in prenatal care have underscored the importance of understanding postnatal outcomes and prognosis in sacrococcygeal teratoma (SCT). However, giant SCTs continue to pose surgical challenges and are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. A clear, objective threshold for defining a "large" tumor relative to the patient's size remains undefined.

Unlabelled: , a wheat U-box E3 ligase gene, was isolated and characterized for its role in drought stress tolerance. The gene encodes a 531 amino acid protein with a U-box domain at the N-terminal and a WD40 domain at the C-terminal. Subcellular localization studies using TaPRP19-GFP fusion in confirmed predominant nucleus localization.

This study compared the long-term outcomes of laparoscopic (LA) and robot-assisted (RA) surgeries for pediatric CC. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to control for potential confounding variables that could influence surgical outcomes.

This stress is particularly critical during flowering and grain-filling stages, where even brief exposure to high temperatures can result in severe yield losses. Plants have evolved complex molecular mechanisms to mitigate heat stress, including the activation of heat shock proteins and the ubiquitin-proteasome system to maintain protein quality and cellular function.

Methods: The medical records of patients with biliary atresia (BA) who failed initial KP from 2010 to 2021 at a single center were retrospectively analyzed. KP failure was defined as persistent jaundice (total bilirubin concentration, ≥2.
Wheat, a staple crop cultivated for over 8000 years, sustains more than 2.5 billion people globally, as a major source of carbohydrate, protein, fiber, and essential nutrients. Colored wheat, enriched with dietary fiber and antioxidants, offers valuable genetic resources for developing functional wheat varieties.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of Korean BRCA-mutated OC patients treated with olaparib maintenance therapy as first-line (1Lm) or second-/subsequent-line (2Lm +) at Asan Medical Center, South Korea, from August 2015 to April 2023. Survival outcomes, including progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), as well as toxicity, were analyzed with patient characteristics and BRCA mutations.
The Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology has updated its clinical practice guidelines for endometrial cancer to incorporate advancements in recent high-quality randomized controlled trials. These guidelines address evolving treatment paradigms, and are tailored to the Korean medical context. Key updates include a strong recommendation for doxorubicin/trabectedin combination therapy in metastatic or recurrent unresectable leiomyosarcoma based on the significant survival benefits demonstrated in a randomized controlled trial.

Objective: To investigate the real-world efficacy and toxicity of paclitaxel-cisplatin-bevacizumab and identify prognostic factors for paclitaxel-cisplatin-bevacizumab in platinum-naïve primary stage IVB cervical cancer.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients with stage IVB cervical cancer who received paclitaxel-cisplatin-bevacizumab as first-line treatment between July 2015 and December 2021 at Asan Medical Center, Korea. Patient data including clinicopathologic characteristics, imaging, paclitaxel-cisplatin-bevacizumab administration, recurrence, and survival were collected.
Background: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is the only treatment option that can stabilize patients with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) with severe pulmonary hypertension. This study assessed the effects of a multidisciplinary ECMO team approach (META) as part of a quality improvement initiative aimed at enhancing the survival rates of neonates with CDH.
Methods: The medical records of infants with CDH treated at a tertiary center were retrospectively reviewed.
Purpose: Intrahepatic biliary cysts (IBCs) after Kasai portoenterostomy (KPE) are associated with intractable recurrent cholangitis. This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of its use as well as indication for surgical management of IBCs in pediatric patients.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records and imaging studies of patients who underwent KPE for biliary atresia from 2010 to 2020.

The Korean Gynecologic Oncology Group (KGOG) was established in 2002 and is the only organization in Korea conducting multi-center clinical trials for gynecologic cancers. Since its re-establishment as a non-profit organization in 2021, KGOG has grown significantly, now including 207 gynecologic oncology specialists from 76 hospitals. This growth is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all those involved in the organization.

Galectin-9 (Gal-9) is a multifaceted regulator of various pathophysiologic processes that exerts positive or negative effects in a context-dependent manner. In this study, we elucidated the distinctive functional properties of Gal-9 on myeloid cells within the brain tumor microenvironment (TME). Gal-9-expressing cells were abundant at the hypoxic tumor edge in the tumor-bearing ipsilateral hemisphere compared with the contralateral hemisphere in an intracranial mouse brain tumor model.

Objective: To evaluate whether the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) from initial 18F-FDG PET/CT (fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography) scans could be a predictor of complete response and recurrence in patients with endometrial cancer who are undergoing fertility sparing management.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of patients who were diagnosed with endometrial cancer through biopsy and chose to undergo fertility sparing management using progestin at the Asan Medical Center, from January 2011 to December 2020. Of these, 113 patients who had an 18-FDG-PET/CT scan before starting treatment were included in our study.
We developed an attention model to predict future adverse glycemic events 30 min in advance based on the observation of past glycemic values over a 35 min period. The proposed model effectively encodes insulin administration and meal intake time using Time2Vec (T2V) for glucose prediction. The proposed impartial feature selection algorithm is designed to distribute rewards proportionally according to agent contributions.

This study investigated the effects of salinity stress on two wheat lines: PL1 (wild type) and PL6 (mutant line generated through gamma irradiation of PL1).
Results: The salinity treatment was carried out with a solution consisting of a total volume of 200 mL containing 150 mM NaCl.

Background: Bulky or multiple lymph node (LN) metastases are associated with poor prognosis in cervical cancer, and the size or number of LN metastases is not yet reflected in the staging system and therapeutic strategy. Although the therapeutic effects of surgical resection of bulky LNs before standard treatment have been reported in several retrospective studies, well-planned randomized clinical studies are lacking. Therefore, the aim of the Korean Gynecologic Oncology Group (KGOG) 1047/DEBULK trial is to investigate whether the debulking surgery of bulky or multiple LNs prior to concurrent chemoradiation therapy (CCRT) improves the survival rate of patients with cervical cancer IIICr diagnosed by imaging tests.

The KSGO revised the guidelines based on a literature search using 4 key elements: Population, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome framework. These elements include the evaluation of the efficacy and safety of immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment in recurrent/advanced endometrial cancer patients who have failed platinum-based chemotherapy, as well as the effect of combined treatment with trastuzumab in patients with HER2/neu-positive endometrial cancer.
