Background: When treating diabetic foot osteomyelitis (DFO), it remains difficult to determine the presence of residual infection and the optimal treatment after bone resection. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics of and prognostic factors in patients with DFO undergoing amputation.
Methods: This retrospective study involved 101 patients with DFO who underwent amputation.
Background: Anti-glycoprotein 2 (anti-GP2) IgA and antineutrophil-cytoplasmic antibodies to proteinase 3 (PR3-ANCA) have been reported as predictive markers of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), but their prevalence in CCA patients without PSC remains unclear.
Methods: This study involved Asian discovery (n = 118) and European validation (n = 38) cohorts of CCA patients without PSC, alongside 49 Asian and 82 European pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients, 21 with benign pancreatic neoplasms (BPN) and 45 with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and 157 healthy controls (HC) from Asia and Europe. We analyzed the prevalence of PR3-ANCA, IgA and IgG against GP2 and GP2, and the CA19-9 levels.
We investigated the usefulness of quantitative Tc-white blood cell (WBC) single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/computed tomography (CT) for predicting lower extremity amputation in diabetic foot infection (DFI). A total of 93 feet of 83 consecutive patients with DFI who underwent WBC SPECT/CT for treatment planning were retrospectively analysed. Extensor hallucis longus tendon injury is relatively rare and is principally caused by a laceration when a sharp object is dropped on the instep. Primary suturing is possible if the injury is acute, but if the tear is chronic, tendon contracture causes the space between the edges of the tear to widen, disrupting the end-to-end connection. Although various outcomes of the sinus tarsi approach have been reported, these are limited to the Sanders type 2 displaced intraarticular calcaneal fractures (DIACF) because of the limited visibility of the posterior facet joint. Rationale: Calcifying aponeurotic fibroma (CAF) is a rare benign fibroblastic tumor that is commonly in the hand or foot of children or adolescents.
Patient Concerns: A 74-year-old female presented with a progressive pain on the medial foot for 3 years ago. The pain aggravated while walking or in a standing position for more than 20 minutes.
We aimed to evaluate the functional and radiographic outcomes of a three-dimensionally (3D) pre-contoured lateral locking plate fixation for isolated Weber B type fractures and to evaluate the necessity of an interfragmentary lag screw in the use of the plate.
