Diabetic osteoporosis (DOP) is a common complication in diabetes, driven by hyperglycemia-induced metabolic disturbances, chronic inflammation, and oxidative stress. This review describes the critical role of iron metabolism dysregulation in DOP pathogenesis, focusing on ferroptosis, a novel iron-dependent cell death pathway characterized by lipid peroxidation and reactive oxygen species (ROS) overproduction. Diabetic conditions exacerbate iron overload, impairing osteoblast function and enhancing osteoclast activity, while triggering ferroptosis in bone cells.

Here we show that the overexpression of eight immunomodulatory transgenes (Pdl1, Cd200, Cd47, H2-M3, Fasl, Serpinb9, Ccl21 and Mfge8) in mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs) is sufficient to immunologically 'cloak' the cells as well as tissues derived from them, allowing their survival for months in outbred and allogeneic inbred recipients. Overexpression of the human orthologues of these genes in human ESCs abolished the activation of allogeneic human peripheral blood mononuclear cells and their inflammatory responses.

The effect of topical propranolol gel on the levels of plasma renin, angiotensin II (ATII) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in superficial infantile hemangiomas (IHs) was investigated. Thirty-three consecutive children with superficial IHs were observed pre-treatment, 1 and 3 months after application of topical propranolol gel for the levels of plasma renin, ATII and VEGF in Department of General Surgery of Dongfang Hospital from February 2013 to February 2014. The plasma results of IHs were compared with those of 30 healthy infants of the same age from out-patient department.
