Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the long-term oncological outcomes of Grade Group (GG) 4 and 5 Prostate Cancer (PCa) diagnosed by prostate biopsy who underwent robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP).
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed our database for those who had clinically localized GG 4 and 5 PCa discovered on prostate biopsy who underwent RARP before January 1, 2018. Demographic and clinical data was collected.

Background: Heparin is the standard anticoagulant used during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). However, there are problems with heparin, including immunogenicity and variability of effect, that make a search for an alternative desirable. Dabigatran anticoagulation has been reported to provide adequate conditions for CPB in a rabbit model.

The minimum clinically important difference threshold for determining whether changes in the WISQOL tool are meaningfully significant has not previously been estimated. Our study aimed to determine this threshold using distribution- and anchor-based methods.

Methods: A physically healthy, socio-demographically high-risk sample of initially caries-free children, aged 1-4 years, was prospectively studied for 2 years. At 6-month intervals, assessments were made of caries presence from a standard dental exam; oral microbiology was assayed from saliva samples; oral hygiene behaviors and psychological and psychosocial risk exposure were derived from interviews and questionnaires.
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness around the world. Black individuals are two times more likely to be diagnosed with glaucoma compared to White individuals. In 2019, the prevalence of glaucoma in Monroe County was highest amongst older individuals aged 85 and non-Hispanic Blacks.

In 2010, the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester, initiated a synchronous teledentistry program to enhance oral health screenings, treatment planning, and treatment completion for rural pediatric patients who reside in the Western region of New York.
Methods: Data from dental records of all pediatric patients who were participants in the teledentistry program from its inception on April 13, 2010 through December 31, 2022, were reviewed.
Background: Activation of the complement cascade is thought to play a role in scleroderma vasculopathy. We previously showed that complement factor D was elevated in patients with limited cutaneous SSc and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). In this study, we sought to assess multiple relevant components of the complement cascade to determine if they are altered in SSc-PAH, as well as their potential utility as biomarkers of disease severity and progression.

When thinking about major health concerns in the U.S. and around the world, eye care ranks lower compared to cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Early detection of PCa allows for a potentially curative intervention. Most men will live over a decade from the time of their PCa diagnosis.

Methods: Generalized estimating equation was used to examine the association between clinic attendance and the predictors. ORs and 95% CIs were reported in the multiple logistic regression models.
Introduction: Bivalirudin is recommended as an alternative to heparin in cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. Although it has been used in infants and children for this indication, there is a paucity of data on the pharmacologic effects of bivalirudin in neonates. Given the immaturity of the hemostatic system in neonates, we hypothesized that coagulation responses to bivalirudin in this population would be different than in adults.

Although the pandemic disproportionately affected racial/ ethnic minorities, no studies have investigated the ramifications of the pandemic on SIL among these populations. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and pervasiveness of SIL during the COVID-19 pandemic on minority communities.

Purpose: The purpose of this cross-sectional clinical study was to determine and compare alveolar ridge mucosa thickness at crestal, buccal, and lingual locations of the maxillary and mandibular arches in completely edentulous patients using a dedicated, ultrasonic gingival scanner.
Materials And Methods: Thirty-eight completely edentulous subjects were included in the study. In each subject, soft tissue thickness was measured at 28 sites of the edentulous ridge by a single calibrated examiner.
Purpose: To test the retention of two different overdenture attachment matrices and straight abutments when implants are placed at 0-, 15-, and 30-degree diverging angulations as well as the retention of 15-degree-angled abutments to correct the overall angulation to 0-degrees.
Materials And Methods: Matching aluminum blocks were machined to incorporate two dental implants at 0-degree, 15-degree, and 30-degree relative angulations and overdenture attachments to simulate a two-implant overdenture. At 0-degree, 15-degree, and 30-degree implant angulation, straight abutments were studied.

Purpose: The primary aim was to evaluate dentoalveolar expansion with Invisalign clear aligners comparing linear measurements in ClinCheck vs. cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). This would enable an assessment of to what extent expansion gained from Invisalign clear aligners was due to buccal tipping and/or bodily translation of the posterior teeth.

However, an alternative anticoagulant approach is desirable due to the cases of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. Dabigatran provides anticoagulation for an in vitro model of simulated CPB.

Importance: Whether people from racial and ethnic minority groups experience disparities in access to minimally invasive mitral valve surgery (MIMVS) is not known.
Objective: To investigate racial and ethnic disparities in the utilization of MIMVS.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This cross-sectional study used data from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Database for patients who underwent mitral valve surgery between 2014 and 2019.
Fluoroscopy is essential in percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) but exposes patients and operating room staff to radiation. We investigated whether a low-dose (LD) protocol could reduce radiation exposure during fluoroscopy-guided access without compromising clinical outcomes. Patients undergoing PCNL with fluoroscopy-guided access at a tertiary care stone center between January 2019 and July 2021 were identified.

Medical-grade masks and N95 respirators containing non-woven fibers are designed to prevent the spread of airborne diseases. While they effectively trap respiratory droplets and aerosols, they cannot lyse entrapped pathogens. Embedded antimicrobial agents such as silver, copper, zinc, iodine, peptides, quaternary ammonium salts, or nanoparticles have been used to overcome this limitation.
