Middle ear cholesteatoma and facial nerve hypertrophy mimicking schwannoma in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease: A case report.

Rationale: Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease, a hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy, presents with progressive chronic sensory and distal motor polyneuropathy. While sensorineural hearing loss and vestibular impairment have been documented in CMT patients, concurrent middle ear cholesteatoma and persistent direction-changing positional nystagmus have not.

Patient Concerns: This study details a 22-year-old man with CMT1 exhibiting these symptoms.

The present study describes an unusual case of bilateral sudden hearing loss associated with iron deficiency anemia. Although hematologic disorders such as anemia or leukemia have been reported to be associated with sudden hearing loss, bilateral sudden hearing loss, which was presented as the first manifestation of iron deficiency anemia, has not been reported. Clinical characteristics of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo after traumatic brain injury.

Introduction: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the characteristics of brain injury and to assess the relationship between them and treatment outcomes in patients with traumatic benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (t-BPPV).

Materials And Methods: Sixty-three consecutive patients who were diagnosed with BPPV within 2 weeks after head trauma were included.

Results: Cerebral concussion, intracranial hemorrhages (ICH), skull fracture without ICH, and hemorrhagic contusion were observed in 68%, 24%, 5%, and 3% of t-BPPV patients, respectively.

Boosting oxygen evolution reaction activity with Mo incorporated NiFe-LDH electrocatalyst for efficient water electrolysis.

This work demonstrates a simple and scalable methodology for the binder-free direct growth of Mo-doped NiFe-layered double hydroxides on a nickel substrate via an electrodeposition route at room temperature. A three-dimensional (3D) nanosheet array morphology of the electrocatalyst provides immense electrochemical surface area as well as abundant catalytically active sites. Mo incorporation in the NiFe-LDH plays a crucial role in regulating the catalytic activity of oxygen evolution reaction (OER).

The effects of Korean Red Ginseng on heme oxygenase-1 with a focus on mitochondrial function in pathophysiologic conditions.

Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) plays a key role in heme oxygenase (HO)-1 induction under physical and moderate oxidative stress conditions. The transient and mild induction of HO-1 is beneficial for cell protection, mitochondrial function, regeneration, and intercellular communication. However, chronic HO-1 overexpression is detrimental in severely injured regions.

We report a case of VS presenting as left vestibular neuritis (VN) in a previously healthy 57-year-old patient. Right-beating horizontal-torsional spontaneous nystagmus was observed, and the bedside head impulse test revealed a left catch-up saccade.
