The application of cellulose nanofibers (CNF) as cryoprotectants in frozen foods has rarely been explored. In this study, the cryoprotective effect of CNF (2, 4 and 6 % w/w) on mechanically separated chicken meat (MSCM) surimi-like material was investigated, during frozen storage (5 and 60 days) under temperature fluctuation. Surimi-like without cryopreservation agents was more susceptible to protein oxidation due to ice recrystallization.

This study aimed to evaluate the influence of the addition of the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) in microfibrillated cellulose (MFC/CNFs) suspensions submitted to different pretreatments to produce redispersible spray-dried (SD) MFC/CNFs. Suspensions pretreated with 5 % and 10 % sodium silicate and oxidized with 2,2,6,6,-tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxyl (TEMPO) were modified with CTAB surfactant and subsequently dried by SD. The SD-MFC/CNFs aggregates were redispersed by ultrasound to produce cellulosic films by the casting method.

This study aims to enhance the energy use of two products of industry - Queen Palm residue and kraft lignin (KF) - through the combination of two technologies - briquetting and slow pyrolysis. The addition of 20% KF provided briquettes with higher physical, energy, and mechanical properties. The yields of the pyrolysis products were affected by both the pyrolysis temperature and the addition of KF.

The quality of plywood depends on factors such as the forest species and the adhesive used in their production, and understanding the interferences of these factors in the final properties of the plywood is of fundamental importance. The study aimed to develop multilayer plywood with two forest species and two types of adhesive and to evaluate the influences of these factors (forest species and adhesive) on the physical and mechanical properties of the plywood. The panels were produced with wood veneers of parica and pine with two types of adhesives, urea-formaldehyde and phenol-formaldehyde, with a weight of 150 g.
