Background Pre-anesthesia evaluations (PAEs) play a crucial role in enhancing the safety of surgical procedures. This study aimed to assess the patients' understanding of PAEs in a tertiary care teaching hospital in Central India, identifying knowledge gaps and demographic disparities. Methods A cross-sectional study involving 413 patients and their attendants, attending the pre-admission anesthesia consultation (PAC) clinic, was conducted.

Effect of oral hydration therapy on amniotic fluid index and maternal-neonatal outcomes in pregnant women with oligohydramnios: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objectives: Maternal oral hydration therapy is a non-invasive approach to improving AFI, but its effectiveness remains uncertain. This systematic review and meta-analysis were therefore undertaken to assess the effectiveness of maternal oral hydration therapy in increasing AFI in pregnancies complicated by oligohydramnios and to evaluate its impact on maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Methods: A systematic search of Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science was conducted.

Pericardial thymoma presenting as cardiac tamponade in an adult.

Thymoma is a rare tumour originating from the thymic epithelial cells. Here, we present a rare case of thymoma in a female patient in her early 60s, who presented for a clinical emergency. The tumour initially mimicked a primary pericardial tumour causing cardiac tamponade, but on surgical resection and subsequent histopathological examination, it was found to be a thymoma.

A Case of Late Presentation of Supracardiac Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection in an Adult.

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a rare cyanotic congenital heart disease and their survival into adulthood is even rarer. Here, we present the case of a 26-year-old female who was incidentally diagnosed with a case of supracardiac TAPVC during her pregnancy. All four pulmonary veins were joining to form a common venous confluence which drained into a left-sided vertical vein which drained into the innominate vein.

Introduction: Reduction in maternal mortality has been a top priority in low- and lower middle-income countries of Asia-Pacific region. India, being one of them, has a major responsibility of reducing maternal mortality especially in light of the commitment on the part of the Sustainable Development Goals.
