Chronic skin conditions and life trajectories: development and validation of "Dermatology Long-Term Life Impact Measure (DLLIM)".

Background: To date, tools evaluating the impact of skin diseases on quality of life have investigated short-term impact, overlooking the long-term effects on important life decisions.

Objective: to create and validate the "Dermatology Long-Term Life Impact Measure (DLLIM)" questionnaire, that assesses the impact of six chronic inflammatory skin diseases on an individual's life decisions METHODS: Following COSMIN guidelines, we developed and validated DLLIM through item refinement and psychometric testing in a sample of 16,727 patients with chronic skin diseases. Factorial and construct validity were assessed, alongside internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha.

Efficacy of a 2-MNG-Containing Depigmenting Serum in the Treatment of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation.

Background: Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIHP) predominantly affects patients with melanin-rich skin, significantly impacting them psychosocially due to more frequent and severe pigmentary changes. In this study, the efficacy of a novel depigmenting agent 2-mercaptonicotinoyl glycine (Melasyl) in a dermocosmetic (DC) serum formulation is assessed as a stand-alone treatment of PIHP without sunscreen.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-two Mauritian subjects aged 18-50 years of phototype IV-VI presenting mild acne (GEA2) and moderate to severe PIHP (PAHPI > 10) participated in this study.

A Salicylic Acid-Based Dermocosmetic is Effective as an Adjunct to Benzoyl Peroxide for Mild to Moderate Acne and as Monotherapy in Maintenance Post Benzoyl Peroxide.

Background: A dermocosmetic (DC) containing salicylic acid, niacinamide, and thermal spring water has been developed for the management of mild to moderate acne.

Aim: To assess the efficacy of DC as an adjunct to benzoyl peroxide (BPO) every other day compared with BPO over 3 months, and its efficacy as maintenance post-BPO care compared with vehicle for another 3 months.

Methods: Single-center, randomized, double-blind study in 100 patients with mild to moderate facial acne according to the Global Acne Severity (GEA) Scale.

Survey of Hand Issues Encountered by Hairdressers and Hairdresser Related Professionals: From Epidemiological Data to Clinical Observational Survey Results.

Introduction: Hand eczema is frequent among hairdressers. The aim of this open survey was (i) to assess the prevalence and identify causing factors of hand issues encountered by hairdressers and (ii) to assess the benefit of a cosmetic skin care in clinical signs and symptoms through a clinical observational survey.

Methods: The survey was conducted among 391 hairdressers and hairdresser-related professionals, collecting information on frequency of daily procedures, frequency/type/severity of hand issues, and glove usage.

Skin conditions such as acne, atopic dermatitis, skin toxicity from oncology treatment, and scars are among the most common health conditions and negatively impact quality of life (QoL). Yet the physician perception of this impact often varies greatly from the patient perception. This is important because patient illness perception is closely linked with seeking help and treatment adherence behaviors.
