Introduction: Hypokalemic periodic paralysis (HPP) is a severe yet reversible neuromuscular condition precipitated by profound hypokalemia. Autoimmune disorders can exacerbate renal potassium loss resulting in abrupt muscle weakness. Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS), an autoimmune disease characterized by exocrine gland insufficiency, can lead to renal tubular dysfunction and episodes of HPP when distal acidification is compromised.

Coexistence of eosinophilic fasciitis and systemic lupus erythematosus: a case-based review.

Eosinophilic fasciitis involves collagenous thickening of the subcutaneous fascia, hypergammaglobulinaemia, and peripheral eosinophilia, manifesting as erythema and oedema of the extremities and trunk. Rarely, it coexists with systemic lupus erythematosus. Eosinophilic fasciitis mimics scleroderma, making early diagnosis crucial.

Acute Cardiogenic Shock Requiring Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Secondary to Catecholamine-Secreting Paraganglioma: A Case Report.

A previously healthy 16-year-old female presented with acute onset of signs and symptoms of headache, nausea, sweating, abdominal pain, palpitations, chest pain, hypertension, and tachycardia. The patient was admitted to the pediatric critical care unit and rapidly progressed to cardiorespiratory failure, necessitating veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA ECMO) as a life-saving measure. After three days of ECMO support, complicated by arterial thrombi to the left lower limb, necessitating below-knee amputation, the patient was weaned off ECMO and ventilator support.

The research presented in this study aims to investigate a new approach called Definitive Screening Design (DSD) for parameterizing and screening the most significant parameters of the DEM model. This investigation will specifically focus on the three-point bending test as a means of parameterization, and the shear plate test will be used for validation purposes.

Purpose: To assess the use of smartphone-based direct ophthalmoscope photography for screening of diabetic retinopathy (DR) in known diabetic patients walking into a general practitioner's clinic and referring them to a vitreoretinal specialist for further evaluation and management if required.

Methodos: The study included 94 eyes of 47 walk-in patients in a general practitioner's OPD who were known to have type 2 diabetes mellitus and were already on treatment for the same.

Ridge Augmentation Comparing a Cancellous Block Allograft to an Osteoinductive Demineralized Bone Matrix Allograft: A Randomized, Controlled, Blinded Clinical Trial.

Twenty-six patients with a horizontal ridge defect were entered into this 4-month randomized, controlled, blinded clinical trial to compare a cancellous block allograft to a demineralized bone matrix (DBM) allograft for ridge augmentation.
