Background: Medical students are the future doctors and play an essential role in the management of health issues. Their understanding of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is not only required but also necessary to provide the best possible care to patients. The present study aimed to assess medical students' knowledge about AD within the context of the recent reform of the Egyptian medical educational system, which switched to competency-based instead of outcome-based education since 2017.

Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are a common finding in patients with surgically repaired congenital heart defects including transposition of the great arteries (D-TGA). While often asymptomatic, PVCs can sometimes lead to palpitations, dyspnea, and hemodynamic compromise, requiring therapeutic intervention. The arterial switch operation is the preferred treatment for D-TGA, but these patients have a 2% incidence of ventricular arrhythmias and 1% incidence of sudden cardiac death post-operatively.

Rechargeable lithium-sulfur batteries (LiSBs) assembled with earth-abundant and safe Li anodes are less prone to form dendrites on the surface, and sulfur-containing cathodes offer considerable potential for achieving high energy densities. Nevertheless, suitable sulfur host materials and their interaction with electrolytes are at present key factors that retard the commercial introduction of these batteries. Here we propose a two-dimensional metallic carbon phosphorus framework, namely, 2D CP, as a promising sulfur host material for inhibiting the shuttle effect and improving electronic conductivity in high-performance Li-S batteries.

This study addresses the urgent need for culturally sensitive cognitive assessments in Egypt by validating an adapted version of Harmonized Cognitive Assessment Protocol (HCAP) to the Egyptian context. This version is to be used as a part of the Egyptian Aging Survey (AL-SEHA). We enrolled 300 participants aged 55 + from diverse backgrounds and meticulously adapted the HCAP for Egypt's linguistic and cultural context.

Zinc-Manganese spinel ferrites (ZnMnFeO) are nowadays very attractive magnetic materials for cancer diagnostic and therapy. With the help of intense ultrasonic waves, sonochemical synthesis method was used to prepare stoichiometric and chemically homogenous nanoparticles by varying the manganese content. The crystal structure along with the size and shape of the as-prepared nanoparticles were described using XRD, TEM and FT-IR techniques, while cations distribution was carefully investigated using XPS and Mössbauer spectroscopic techniques and supported with density functional theory calculations.

However, the exact underpinning mechanisms are still not fully addressed that hinder our understanding of the tauopathy diseases and the development of possible therapeutic targets. Methods: In the current study, hippocampus from three disease time points (2, 4 and 6 months) of P301S mice were further characterized in comparison to the age and sex matched control wild type mice (WT) that do not express the transgene.

Study Objective: The mid-point transverse process to pleura block (MTPB) is a new variant of thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB). This study aimed to compare TPVB and MTPB with respect to intraoperative attenuation of the hemodynamic stress response to surgery and postoperative analgesia in pediatric open heart surgery with midline sternotomy.
Design: A single-center, randomized, controlled, double-blind, non-inferiority study.
The phosphate lithium-ion conductor LiAlTi(PO) (LATP) is an economically attractive solid electrolyte for the fabrication of safe and robust solid-state batteries, but high sintering temperatures pose a material engineering challenge for the fabrication of cell components. In particular, the high surface roughness of composite cathodes resulting from enhanced crystal growth is detrimental to their integration into cells with practical energy density. In this work, we demonstrate that efficient free-standing ceramic cathodes of LATP and LiFePO (LFP) can be produced by using a scalable tape casting process.

Conventional sodium-based layered oxide cathodes are extremely air sensitive and possess poor electrochemical performance along with safety concerns when operating at high voltage. The polyanion phosphate, Na V (PO ) stands out as an excellent candidate due to its high nominal voltage, ambient air stability, and long cycle life. The caveat is that Na V (PO ) can only exhibit reversible capacities in the range of 100 mAh g , 20% below its theoretical capacity.

SEM/EDS and XRPD analyses proved the purity, composition, and perovskite structure of the MATM. DSC analysis reveals the existence of an order-disorder phase transition of a first-order type at about 342 ± 2 K and 320 ± 1 K (heating and cooling, respectively), attributed to the disorder of [CHNH] ions.

α-SbO (senarmontite), β-SbO (valentinite), and α-TeO (paratellurite) are compounds with pronounced stereochemically active Sb and Te lone pairs. The vibrational and lattice properties of each have been previously studied but often lead to incomplete or unreliable results due to modes being inactive in infrared or Raman spectroscopy. Here, we present a study of the relationship between bonding and lattice dynamics of these compounds.
