Introduction: We aimed to describe the symptoms, patient demographics, and trends over time of adverse effects related to liquorice consumed in the diet reported to French poison centres.
Methods: We performed a retrospective study of data from French poison centres of cases of adverse effects of liquorice consumed in the diet, with a high causality score, between 2012 and 2021 (10 years).
Results: Sixty-four cases were included.

Objectives: Despite the widespread use of fluorinated medicines - with approximately 20% of the drugs marketed in 2020 containing fluoride compounds - the association between these medications and fluorosis remains under-recognized. This study aimed to identify medications most likely to induce fluorosis in real-world clinical settings using pharmacovigilance databases.
Methods: A descriptive and disproportionality study was conducted using French national (FPVB) and international pharmacovigilance databases (VigiBase®).

Herein, we report a molecular cage allowing strong chelation of the At radioanion. Propargylated bambus[6]uril shows good affinity towards iodide and astatide radiohalides, affording promising inclusion complexes that are stable in phosphate buffered saline and human serum. Density functional theory calculations support the presence of C-H⋯At non-covalent cooperative interactions governing the formation of astatinated cage complexes.

Burnout syndrome is an occupational hazard characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a diminished sense of personal accomplishment. Although it initially arises in the workplace setting, it can spill over and affect all aspects of an individual's life. The high prevalence of physician burnout represents a public health crisis for healthcare systems already under strain.

According to the current hydrodynamic theory, teeth sensitivity is mediated by odontoblast cell processes which can be activated by fluid flow in the pericellular space of bulk dentin. To better understand the possible spatial extent of such phenomena, we investigated the topology and connectivity of dentinal porosity of a healthy human tooth. Using confocal fluorescence microscopy, we modeled the porosity as a spatial graph with edges representing dentinal tubules or lateral branches and nodes defining their connections.

Bacterial extracellular vesicles (EVs) are lipidic shuttles involved in inter-species communication, virulence, and host immune modulation. While their roles are increasingly understood in animal-bacteria interactions, knowledge of phytobacterial EVs remains limited. Recent findings indicate that biotic factors like hydroxycinnamic acids can regulate EV production.

Chronic colonization by filamentous fungi in patients with cystic fibrosis (pwCF) is linked to declines in lung function and quality of life. To better assess indoor mold exposure, 23 French dwellings of pwCF from CF care centers in Normandy and Maine & Loire, France were visited. Bioaerosols collected using Coriolis® µ and Coriolis® compact biocollectors and dust were cultured on four different media: Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA), Malt Extract Agar (MEA), Sabouraud Chloramphenicol Gentamicin (SCG) and Sabouraud Chloramphenicol Gentamicin Actidione (S +).

Cutaneous leishmaniasis presents a significant challenge to public health due to its diverse clinical manifestations, resistance development, and treatment-related adverse effects. Here, we examined the efficacy of ivermectin, moxidectin (MOX), afoxolaner, and permethrin against all stages of Leishmania tropica and THP-1 cells. We also assessed the potential for resistance acquisition after 15 rounds of artificial selection.

Ecological models can provide planners with important information to integrate the needs of animals and plants into urban planning processes, thereby contributing to improving biodiversity and human well-being in cities. These models require urban land cover maps with high spatial (1-10 m) and thematic resolution (e.g.

Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains a global public health problem claiming about 1, 1 million lives among the several hundred million people infected with the virus globally. However, low- and middle-income countries including those in sub-Saharan Africa carry the highest burden but limited knowledge of the pathogen. This calls for studies to characterise the circulating genotypes of the virus in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The key role of the NFL-TBS.40-63 peptide (BIOT-NFL) is to target and destroy glioma cancer cells. Recently we have performed a novel peptide-hybrid-gold nanovector (BIOT-NFL-PEG-AuNPs) capable to destroy microtubule network of pancreatic cancer cells (PDAC) exhibiting a decrease of tumor index with a real anti-angiogenic effect.

Dysferlinopathy is caused by over 500 mutations in the gene encoding dysferlin, including close to 300 point mutations. One option to cure the disease is to use a gene therapy to correct these mutations at the root. Prime editing is a technique which can replace the mutated nucleotide with the wild-type nucleotide.

Background: We conducted a randomized controlled trial to compare intermediate doses (IDAC) with high doses of cytarabine (HDAC) as postinduction therapy in patients 18 to 60 years of age with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The main objectives were to evaluate noninferiority in overall survival (OS) after IDAC and safety.
Methods: Patients 18 to 60 years of age with newly diagnosed AML, except those with core-binding factor, acute promyelocytic, Philadelphia chromosome-positive, or post-myeloproliferative neoplasm AML, were eligible.

Background: The coinjection of methamphetamine and opioids, known as "goofballing," is an emerging practice among people who inject drugs. This combination poses significant clinical challenges due to the opposing pharmacological effects of stimulants and depressants. The increasing prevalence of this practice, particularly in North America, raises significant concerns regarding its impact on public health and patient management.

Genetic analyses have been included in scoring systems to improve the prognostic stratification of hematologic malignancies. Until now, molecular risk scores have not been included into the practical management of patients with polycythemia vera (PV). In this work, we studied 439 PV patients recruited from 15 French centers and described their mutational landscape using high-throughput sequencing.

At-labeled (hetero)aryl compounds were obtained from arylsulfonium salt in high RCY with a short reaction time. Benzothiophenium salts appear to be superior to triarylsulfonium salts with a high efficiency demonstrated on electronically enriched or depleted phenyl rings and an -substituted substrate. As a potential application, a At-labeled benzylazide prosthetic group was produced and conjugated to octreotate by SPAAC.

Unlabelled: Breeding varieties that are highly resistant to Alternaria leaf blight is crucial to enable carrot growers to drastically reduce their use of synthetic fungicides. Some sources of resistance have been identified in recent years, but in limited number and the genetic control as well as the screening for resistance remain complex and tedious. Flavonoid compounds have been reported to be involved in plant resistance to biotic or abiotic stresses.

Patients presenting with advanced-stage CTCL usually exhibit poor long-term survival outcomes. Vasovagal events occur across a spectrum, from minor events to severe episodes resulting in syncope. The intensity distribution of these events follows a power law, as described by the universal theory of self-organized criticality (SOC). Extreme SOC events may manifest as unpredictable "black swans" or predictable outliers called "dragon kings.

The aim of this note is to prove a law of large numbers for local patterns in discrete point processes. We investigate two different situations: a class of point processes on the one-dimensional lattice including certain Schur measures, and a model of random plane partitions, introduced by Okounkov and Reshetikhin. The results state in both cases that the linear statistic of a function, weighted by the appearance of a fixed pattern in the random configuration and conveniently normalized, converges to the deterministic integral of that function weighted by the expectation with respect to the limit process of the appearance of the pattern.
