This study investigates the impact of carotid artery stenosis (CAS) severity on cognitive function and quality of life (QoL) in 140 patients in Jordan. Using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and the WHO Quality of Life-Brief (WHOQOL-BREF), the study explores how CAS severity correlates with cognitive decline and QoL. Results show that higher CAS severity is associated with poorer cognitive scores and lower QoL, with mild CAS patients showing significantly better outcomes than those with moderate or severe stenosis.

This letter to the editor responds to a study on the role of felt stigma in determining the health-related quality of life of stroke survivors in China. The findings demonstrate that felt stigma significantly impacts both physical and mental health outcomes, whereas enacted stigma does not show a significant effect. We argue that cultural factors, such as self-sufficiency values and filial piety, should be further explored as contributing elements to stigma perception.
