Background: Microglia are brain resident cells that control neural network maintenance, damage healing, and brain development. Microglia undergo apoptosis, cytokine production, and reactive free radicals of oxygen (ROS) in response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation. TRPM2 is activated by LPS-induced oxidative stress, but it is inhibited by carvacrol (CARV) and N-(p-amylcinnamoyl)anthranilic acid (ACA).

Background: Comprehensive history-taking is crucial for patient assessment, prioritisation of care, and planning of care. While direct instruction methods effectively explain history-taking processes and components, they provide insufficient opportunities for practice, necessitating the implementation of supplementary teaching strategies.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of AI chatbot-supported history-taking training on nursing students' questioning skills and clinical stress levels.

Serum biomarkers are crucial for identifying complications of obesity. This study evaluated serum levels of leptin, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), myeloperoxidase (MPO), C-reactive protein (CRP), oxidized low-density lipoprotein (OXLDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and other biochemical parameters in a rat model of high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity to investigate potential relationships between these biomarkers and microvascular function. Rats in the HFD group were fed a high-fat diet for 23 weeks, whereas control rats received a standard diet.

These CSCs frequently rely on developmental signaling pathways such as Sonic Hedgehog (SHH), which are typically dormant in adult tissue but reactivated in tumors. This study aimed to investigate how SHH pathway inhibition affects both bulk GBM cells (GBMCs) and CD133 + GBM cells (GBM CSCs), with particular emphasis on the influence of astrocyte co-culture, which more closely mimics the brain tumor microenvironment.

Background: The optimal combination of factors such as rest duration, type of activity, and individual variability for maximizing post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE) following plyometric conditioning activity (plyometric CA) remains a subject of debate. To investigate the effects of different rest periods (4, 8, and 12 min) on performance following plyometric CA, this randomized controlled study was conducted.
Methods: Twenty physically active men were included in this study (mean ± SD: age 20.

Although the Covid-19 pandemic has ended, its negative impacts on adolescents' physical activity levels, nutritional behaviors, and healthy lifestyle beliefs persist. This study aimed to examine whether physical activity (PAS) mediates the relationship between healthy lifestyle beliefs (HLB) and nutritional behaviors (NBS) among adolescents. This study was a quantitative study, with a cross sectional survey design.

The purpose of this study was to compare the coaxial and non-coaxial techniques in terms of adverse events (AEs) resulting from the percutaneous renal biopsy. A secondary aim was to determine the potential effect of the sclerosed glomeruli on AEs. Patients who underwent ultrasonography-guided percutaneous renal biopsy in our interventional radiology clinic between January 2013 and December 2021 were scanned retrospectively.

Intratumoral heterogeneity remains a major barrier to durable cancer therapies, largely driven by the persistence of cancer stem cells (CSCs). In this study, we employed an integrated, multi-scale approach to investigate how melanoma CSCs respond to siRNA-mediated silencing of three key regulatory genes: KLF4, SHH, and HIF1α. Using a combination of morphological, molecular, spectroscopic, and elemental analyses, we explored structural and biochemical consequences of gene knockdown.

Interpolated flaps are frequently used in reconstructive surgery when free tissue transfer is not feasible, but they require staged procedures due to pedicle dependence. Flap autonomization, the process by which transferred tissue develops new vascular connections and survives independently of its pedicle, is essential before division. Although methods such as delay techniques, hyperbaric oxygen (HBO), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and stem cell therapies have been tested to enhance angiogenesis, the effect of topical nitroglycerin (NTG), a nitric oxide (NO) donor with vasodilatory, anti-inflammatory, and angiogenic properties, has not been investigated.

In this study, a novel multi-layer scaffold composed of poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and chitosan (CS) was designed and fabricated via electrospinning, with tigecycline (Tig) incorporated as an antimicrobial agent in the middle layer. This nanofibrous multi-layer structure consisted of hydrophobic PCL outer and inner layers and a hydrophilic PCL-CS-Tig middle layer, designed to mimic the structural functionality of the native extracellular matrix. SEM analysis revealed that the fabricated nanofibrous layers were uniform, beadless fibers with diameters ranging from 689 ± 186 nm for the pure PCL layers to 125 ± 19 nm in the PCL-CS matrix loaded with Tig (single-layer), and further increased to 298 ± 98 nm in the multi-layer dressing.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a multifactorial metabolic disorder described by chronic hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, as well as low-grade inflammation. Recent research highlights the vital role of the gut microbiota in the pathogenesis and progression of T2DM. Dysbiosis can impair intestinal barrier integrity, promote systemic inflammation, and contribute to insulin resistance and glucose metabolism dysfunction.
