The effect of gamma radiation on the decontamination of microbial population, physico-chemical, radiation sensitivity and sensory characteristics of common spices for storage were evaluated. Spices were irradiated with gamma doses of 0 (as control), 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 kGy, packed in the glass vials and stored at room temperature (22 ± 2°C) in the laboratory. In this research, , and species were identified in un-irradiated spice samples.

Over the years, leaked fluids from aircraft have caused severe deterioration of airfield pavement. The combined effect of hot exhaust from the auxiliary power unit of military aircraft and spilt aviation oils have caused rapid pavement spalling. If the disintegrated concreted pieces caused by spalling are sucked into the jet engine, they may cause catastrophic damage to the aircraft engine or physical injury to maintenance crews.

Despite a lot of intensive research on cell-scaffold interaction, the focus is mainly on the capacity of construct scaffolds to regulate cell mobility, migration, and cytotoxicity. The effect of the scaffold's topographical and material properties on the expression of biologically active compounds from stem cells is not well understood. In this study, the influence of cellulose acetate (CA) on the electrospinnability of gelatin and the roles of gelatin-cellulose acetate (Ge-CA) on modulating the release of biologically active compounds from amniotic fluid stem cells (AFSCs) is emphasized.

Volumetric Muscle Loss (VML) is associated with muscle loss function and often untreated and considered part of the natural sequelae of trauma. Various types of biomaterials with different physical and properties have been developed to treat VML. However, much work remains yet to be done before the scaffolds can pass from the bench to the bedside.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) enters the host cell by binding to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor. Other important proteins involved in this process include disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 17 (ADAM17) also known as tumour necrosis factor-α-converting enzyme and transmembrane serine protease 2. ACE2 converts angiotensin II (Ang II) to angiotensin (1-7), to balance the renin angiotensin system.

Current microalgal based photobioreactors focus on the secondary treated effluent while limited researches attempted for treating the raw domestic wastewater. This study aimed to assess the microalgal biomass production, removal performance, and fouling characteristics of microalgal membrane bioreactors (MMBRs) for treating synthetic wastewater under different conditions of organic loading rate (OLR) and hydraulic residence time (HRT). The 12h/12 h dark/light cycle continuous experiments were performed for four MMBRs at different OLRs and three MMBRs at different HRTs.

Background: Data security has been a critical topic of research and discussion since the onset of data sharing in e-health systems. Although digitalization of data has increased efficiency and speed, it has also made data vulnerable to cyber attacks. Medical records in particular seem to be the regular victims of hackers.

Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a relatively new imaging modality in the functional neuroimaging research arena. The fNIRS modality non-invasively investigates the change of blood oxygenation level in the human brain utilizing the transillumination technique. In the last two decades, the interest in this modality is gradually evolving for its real-time monitoring, relatively low-cost, radiation-less environment, portability, patient-friendliness, etc.

Globally, there is an obvious concern about the fact that the evolving 2019-nCoV coronavirus is a worldwide public health threat. The appearance of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in China at the end of 2019 triggered a major global epidemic, which is now a major community health issue. As of August 13, 2020, according to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), Bangladesh has reported 269,095 confirmed cases between 8 March and 13 August 2020, with > 1.

COVID-19 or novel coronavirus disease, which has already been declared as a worldwide pandemic, at first had an outbreak in a large city of China, named Wuhan. More than two hundred countries around the world have already been affected by this severe virus as it spreads by human interaction. Moreover, the symptoms of novel coronavirus are quite similar to the general seasonal flu.

Mechanical properties of Carbon Nanotube (CNT) reinforced composites are obtained utilizing finite element (FE) method-based indentation simulations considering large strain elasto-plastic behavior of elements. This study includes nanoindentation simulations for chemically non-bonded CNT/matrix interface, including the length scale effect of nanocomposites. In order to investigate the mechanical properties of CNT reinforced nanocomposites, a number of FE models for nanoindentation tests have been simulated.

There is an obvious concern globally regarding the fact about the emerging coronavirus 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as a worldwide public health threat. As the outbreak of COVID-19 causes by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) progresses within China and beyond, rapidly available epidemiological data are needed to guide strategies for situational awareness and intervention. The recent outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan, China, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 emphasizes the importance of analyzing the epidemiological data of this novel virus and predicting their risks of infecting people all around the globe.

A new Interpolation based Reversible Data Hiding (IRDH) scheme is reported in this paper. For different applications of an IRDH scheme to the digital image, video, multimedia, big-data and biological data, the embedding capacity requirement usually varies. Disregarding this important consideration, existing IRDH schemes do not offer a better embedding rate-distortion performance for varying size payloads.

The series of 2-amino-7-propargyloxy-4H-chromene-3-carbonitriles 5a-t were synthesized from corresponding 2-amino-7-phydroxy-4H-chromene-3-carbonitriles 4a-t and propargyl bromide. Two procedures were used in these syntheses: KCO/acetone and NaH/DMF procedures with yields of 65-89% and 80-96%, respectively. 1H-1,2,3-Triazole-tethered 4H-chromene-d-glucose conjugates 7a-t were synthesized using click chemistry of propargyl ethers 5a-t and tetra-O-acetyl-β-d-glucopyranosyl azide.

Some heterocycles, namely 2-amino-4H-pyran-3-carbonitriles, were synthesized in a three-component reaction from substituted benzaldehydes, malononitrile, and ethyl acetoacetate. These heterocycles have been converted subsequently into 4H-pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine ring by ring-closing reaction with acetic anhydride in the presence of the concentrated sulfuric acid as catalyst. The successive alkylation reaction of lactam NH bond on pyrimidine-4-one ring was carried out using propargylic bromide in dry acetone in the presence of anhydrous potassium carbonate.
