This study investigates the removal efficiency of the toxic element antimony (Sb(V)) using a combined system incorporating ion exchange resins and ion exchange membranes to form an Electrodeionization (EDI) cell. The impact of various operational parameters, including applied potential, flow rate, Na₂SO₄ concentration in the electrode compartment, and the presence of interfering ions, on Sb(V) removal was systematically examined. Results indicate that increasing the applied potential significantly enhances Sb(V) removal, achieving a maximum removal rate of 99% at 40 V and 50 V, with the residual Sb(V) concentrations reducing to 60 μg/L and 9 μg/L, respectively.

We report the synthesis of ethylammonium lead iodide (EAPbI) colloidal nanocrystals as another member of the lead halide perovskites family. The insertion of an unusually large -cation (274 pm in diameter) in the perovskite structure, hitherto considered unlikely due to the unfavorable Goldschmidt tolerance factor, results in a significantly larger lattice parameter compared to the Cs-, methylammonium- and formamidinium-based lead halide perovskite homologues. As a consequence, EAPbI nanocrystals are highly unstable, evolving to a nonperovskite δ-EAPbI polymorph within 1 day.

Injectable nanocomposite hydrogels (NC hydrogels) have the potential to be used for minimally invasive local drug delivery. In particular, pH-sensitive injectable NC hydrogels can be used in cancer treatment to deliver high doses of anticancer drugs to the target site in cancer tissue without damaging healthy tissue. Recent studies have shown that in addition to stimuli-responsive delivery of anticancer drugs to cancer cells, oxygen delivery to the hypoxic environment of cancer tissue can lead to advanced effects, as hypoxia and an acidic pH are common characteristics of cancer tissue.

In recent years, there has been a notable shift toward exploring plant and animal extracts for the fabrication of tissue engineering structures that seamlessly integrate with the human body, providing both biological compatibility and physical reinforcement. In this particular investigation, we synthesized bilayer wound dressings by incorporating snail () secretions, comprising mucus and slime, into chitosan matrices via lyophilization and electrospinning methodologies. A nanofiber layer was integrated on top of the porous structure to mimic the epidermal layer for keratinocyte activity as well as acting as an antibacterial barrier against possible infection, whereas a porous structure was designed to mimic the dermal microenvironment for fibroblast activity.

Study Objectives: Melanopsin-expressing retinal ganglion cells, which provide light information to time sleep and entrain circadian clocks, also influence perceived brightness raising the possibility that psychophysical paradigms could be used to explore the origins and implications of variability in melanopic sensitivity. We aimed to develop accessible psychophysical tests of melanopic vision and relate outcomes with a pupillometric measure of melanopsin function (post-illumination pupil response) and prior light exposure.
Methods: Individually calibrated pairs of isoluminant stimuli differing in melanopic radiance from a four primary source were presented sequentially with superimposed random color offsets in a two alternative forced choice brightness preference paradigm to 41 naïve adult participants with personal light exposure data for the prior 7 days and post-illumination pupil response measures defined by comparing maintained pupil constriction for luminance matched "red" vs "blue" pulses.

In this study, the performance of the cell-penetrating and fusogenic peptide, TAT-HA2, which consists of a cell-permeable HIV trans-activator of transcription (TAT) protein transduction domain and a pH-responsive influenza A virus hemagglutinin protein (HA2) domain, was comparatively evaluated for the first time in peptideplex, multicomponent, and conjugate siRNA delivery systems. TAT-HA2 in all three systems protected siRNA from degradation, except in the conjugate system with a low Peptide/siRNA ratio. The synergistic effect of different peptide domains enhanced the transfection efficiency of multicomponent and conjugate systems compared to that of peptideplexes, which was attributed to the surface configuration of TAT-HA2 peptides depending on the nature of attachment.

Clique counting is a crucial task in graph mining, as the count of cliques provides different insights across various domains, social and biological network analysis, community detection, recommendation systems, and fraud detection. Counting cliques is algorithmically challenging due to combinatorial explosion, especially for large datasets and larger clique sizes. There are comprehensive surveys and reviews on algorithms for counting subgraphs and triangles (three-clique), but there is a notable lack of reviews addressing k-clique counting algorithms for k > 3.
