To enhance social interaction of residents living with dementia and their (in)formal carers in nursing homes, we examined the effects of a digital, person-centred, Photo-Activity (PA) versus a conversation activity (control). An explorative randomized controlled trial was conducted in 81 resident-informal carer (IC) dyads and 51 formal carers (FC) with three measurements (pre/post-test, 2-week follow-up). Intervention effects were tested using Mann-Whitney U's, and ANCOVA's with pre-test scores as covariates.

We used the data from a successful therapeutic assay that used icatibant in patients with hypoxemic COVID-19 pneumonia (the ICAT·COVID trial) to explore pathophysiological mechanisms. We performed concurrent-type, criterion-related validity analyses to assess the discriminative ability of a panel of nine potential serum markers (interleukin 6, ferritin, lactate dehydrogenase, C reactive protein, fibrin fragment D (D-dimer), complement 1 esterase inhibitor (antigenic and functional), complement 4 factor, and lymphocyte count) to predict the clinical milestones. Consistent with previous research, we evidenced a significant relationship between interleukin 6, lactate dehydrogenase and the lymphocyte count, and the clinical events.

Purpose: In our work, we focused on the development of nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) loaded with dexibuprofen (DXI) and their application for cancer therapy by proposing the binding of phospholipids with this non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) to obtain new delivery systems.

Methods: We successfully synthesized seven conjugates with good yields, four of which are new, and have not been previously published in the literature. The structures of the obtained conjugates were confirmed and comparative in vitro studies of their antiproliferative activity were conducted, along with molecular modeling to assess their therapeutic potential.

Purpose: Especially in Europe, amino acid PET is increasingly integrated into multidisciplinary neuro-oncological tumor boards (MNTBs) to overcome diagnostic uncertainties such as treatment-related changes. We evaluated the accuracy of MNTB decisions that included the O -(2-[ 18 F]-fluoroethyl)-L-tyrosine (FET) PET information compared with FET PET results alone to differentiate tumor relapse from treatment-related changes.

The posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) is a key hub of the default mode network and is known to play an important role in attention. Using ultra-high field 7 Tesla magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to quantify neurometabolite concentrations, this exploratory study investigated the effect of the concentrations of myo-inositol (Myo-Ins), glutamate (Glu), glutamine (Gln), aspartate or aspartic acid (Asp) and gamma-amino-butyric acid (GABA) in the PCC on attention in forty-six healthy participants. Global health reciprocal innovation emphasizes the movement of technologies or interventions between high- and low-income countries to address a shared public health problem, in contrast to unidirectional models of "development aid" or "reverse innovation". Evidence-based interventions are frequently adapted from the setting in which they were developed and applied in a new setting, presenting an opportunity for learning and partnership across high- and low-income contexts. Individuals suffering from chronic pain develop substance use disorders (SUDs) more often than others. Understanding the shared genetic influences underlying the comorbidity between chronic pain and SUDs will lead to a greater understanding of their biology. Genome-wide association statistics were obtained from the UK Biobank for multisite chronic pain (MCP, N = 387,649) and from the Million Veteran Program and the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium meta-analyses for alcohol use disorder (AUD, N = 296,974), cannabis use disorder (CanUD, N = 161,053), opioid use disorder (OUD, N = 57,120), and problematic tobacco use (PTU, N = 270,120).

Recently, we described synthetic sulfolipids named Sulfavants as a novel class of molecular adjuvants based on the sulfoquinovosyl-diacylglycerol skeleton. The members of this family, Sulfavant A (), Sulfavant R (), and Sulfavant S (), showed important effects on triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2)-induced differentiation and maturation of human dendritic cells (hDC), through a novel cell mechanism underlying the regulation of the immune response. As these molecules are involved in biological TREM2-mediated processes crucial for cell survival, here, we report the synthesis and application of a fluorescent analogue of Sulfavant A bearing the 4,4-difluoro-1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza--indacene moiety (Me-BODIPY).

Genetic liability to substance use disorders can be parsed into loci that confer general or substance-specific addiction risk. We report a multivariate genome-wide association meta-analysis that disaggregates general and substance-specific loci for published summary statistics of problematic alcohol use, problematic tobacco use, cannabis use disorder, and opioid use disorder in a sample of individuals of European descent and African descent. Nineteen independent SNPs were genome-wide significant ( < 5e-8) for the general addiction risk factor (), which showed high polygenicity.
