Colorectal cancer is one of the deadliest forms of gastrointestinal cancer, with conventional treatments often facing significant limitations. As a result, new approaches, particularly in targeted drug delivery, have shown great promise. In this study, the COF-FA@DOX nanocarrier was developed, where covalent organic frameworks (COFs) were functionalized with folic acid (FA) and then loaded with Doxorubicin (DOX).

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are promising nanocarriers for enhancing anticancer drug efficacy. To deliver doxorubicin (DOX) to receptor-deficient cancers - using triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) as the paradigmatic example, we developed a magnetically guided COF-based nanostructure called COF@DOX@FeO. FeO nanoparticles (NPs) were used to functionalize the nanostructure after DOX was loaded into COF NPs (loading capacity: 24.

Previous studies have demonstrated that sentence processing can be impaired in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD). However, it remains unclear whether the neural mechanisms underlying language impairments in PD are like the motor symptoms and related to dysfunction observed in cortico-striatal pathways. On the other hand, traumatic brain injury (TBI) is recognized as a significant non-genetic risk factor for developing PD later in life.

Due to the uncertainty of geomechanical parameters, it is necessary to investigate the risks arising from geotechnical hazards in tunnel design from a statistical perspective. In this study, a hybrid quantitative approach incorporating uncertainty in geomechanical parameters, the finite element method (FEM), and the variation coefficient method (VCM) was employed to investigate geotechnical hazards in the Alborz tunnel. At first, by considering five statistical intervals [µ, µ + 0.

In this research, Ag@SiO nanoparticles were prepared by a sol-gel method (a wet chemical method) at room temperature. The nanoparticles were functionalized by chlorosulfonic acid to introduce acidic sites on the surface to obtain sulfonic acid grafted on silica-coated silver nanoparticles (Ag@SiO-SOH). Ag@SiO-SOH was identified and characterized by FT-IR, DLS, ZP, FE-SEM, EDX-mapping, TEM, XRD, BET, BJH and TGA analyses.

Objective: This study aimed to develop a hybrid model for variable selection in high-dimensional survival analysis using a support vector regression (SVR), to identify prognostic biomarkers associated with survival in oral cancer (OC) patients through the analysis of gene expression data.

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, gene expression profiles (54,613 probes) related to 97 patients from the GSE41613 dataset from the GEO repository were used. First of all, martingale residuals were obtained using a Cox regression without covariates, and were used as pseudo-survival outcome.

Spatio-temporal independent component classification for localization of seizure onset zone.

Front Neurol

June 2025

Control and Intelligent Processing Center of Excellence (CIPCE), School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran.

Localization of the epileptic seizure onset zone (SOZ) as a step in presurgical planning leads to higher efficiency in surgical and stimulation treatments. However, the clinical localization procedure is a difficult, long procedure with increasing challenges in patients with complex epileptic foci. The interictal methods have been proposed to assist in presurgical planning with simpler procedures for data acquisition and higher speeds.

Nano-[CoFeO@SiO/propyl-1-(-vanillinaldimine)][CoCl] was designed and reported with the Schiff base cobalt(ii) complex anchored onto cobalt ferrite magnetite nanoparticles. The resulting nanomagnetite Schiff base cobalt(ii) complex was employed as a recoverable catalyst for the condensation reaction of aryl aldehyde, 2-aminobenzimidazole and ethyl acetoacetate at 90 °C to synthesize 4-pyrimido[2,1-]benzimidazoles under solvent-free condition. According to the proposed mechanism, the cobalt complex can accelerate the reaction a structural rearrangement from a tetrahedral to a square planar geometry.

Background: COVID-19 is a novel infection in humans that is triggered by a virus called SARS-CoV-2, which affects the respiratory system severely. The transmission rate and mortality of COVID-19 can be reduced by early diagnosis. COVID-19 is confirmed by PCR-based tests, which are the standard method, but biosensing platform for SARS-CoV-2 detection also have an essential role in diagnosing COVID-19 and are widely used.

This study investigates factors influencing physical activity based on the Transtheoretical model (TTM) among adolescents. This study was conducted on 745 individuals between the ages of 12 and 16 years and was analyzed using a generalized linear model (GLM) approach with appropriate link functions using both classical and Bayesian frameworks. The results show that in model 1, the probit link function is a more appropriate approach to determine the risk factors for physical activity.

Resting state EEG in patients with disorders of consciousness (DOC) is characterized by an increase of power in the delta frequency band and a concurrent decrease in the alpha range, equivalent to a weakening or disappearance of the alpha peak. Prolongation of Intrinsic Neural Timescales (INTs) is also associated with DOCs. Together, this raises the question whether the decreased alpha peak relates to the prolonged INTs and, importantly, how that can be used for diagnosing the state of consciousness in DOC individuals.

One of the most common chronic liver diseases is nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which affects many people around the world. Gut microbiota (GM) dysbiosis seems to be an influential factor in the pathophysiology of NAFLD because changes in GM lead to fundamental changes in host metabolism. Therefore, the study of the effect of dysbiosis on the pathogenicity of NAFLD is important.
