Introduction: Immunosenescence remodels immune functions and was first described with aging. It is present in 25% of cancer patients but has also been described in patients with Immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs). This study aims at quantifying cells exhibiting a phenotype of senescence in CD4+ (T4sen) and CD8+ (T8sen) T cells, analyzing its potential drivers and the effect of anti-TNF treatment in a prospective cohort of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), spondyloarthritis (SpA) and Sjögren disease (SjD).

Background: In 2023, Mayotte, a French department in the Mozambique channel, experienced a long drought that led to potable water restrictions. Although the French vaccination schedule makes polio vaccination compulsory for children, the large proportion of migrants on the island coupled with the water crisis raised concerns about the establishment of poliovirus transmission chains. Therefore, a surveillance was implemented to detect polioviruses in sewage sampled in the two main wastewater treatment plants.

In the United States, in the second half of the nineteenth century, the reforming institutions of the horse-drawn-carriage trade prescribed descriptive geometry to their workshops in order to modernize the drawing process for modern carriages. This injunction, institutionally supported by the builder's national association, professional newspapers, and education, was part of a wider movement to organize production at a time when the carriage trade was booming. In order to facilitate the circulation of theoretical knowledge within workshops that were reluctant to mathematize their environment, two trade journals translated, in the space of a few years, and on three occasions (once by one journal and twice by the other), the same French treatise on descriptive geometry written by a Parisian carriage woodworker.

Aluminum (Al) is a cost-effective alternative to noble metals for plasmonics, particularly in the ultraviolet (UV) and visible regions. However, in the near-infrared (NIR) region, its performance is hindered by interband transitions (IBTs) at around 825 nm, leading to increased optical losses and broad resonances. Surface lattice resonances (SLRs) offer a promising solution by enhancing the plasmonic quality factor (-factor) through coherent coupling of localized surface plasmon (LSP) modes with Rayleigh anomalies.

Synthesis, characterization, and electrocatalytic water oxidation studies of the cubane-type complexes [(μ-)CoCl(MeOH)] (1) and [(μ-)CoCl(MeOH)] (2) are herein reported. Cubanes 1 and 2 were obtained in high yields under mild conditions by self-assembly of the ligands = 1--2-benzimidazolylmethanol and = 1-methyl-2-benzimidazolylmethanol with CoCl·6HO in basic methanolic solution. Both compounds feature a cubane-type structure in which the central {CoO} units are built by four Co centers coordinated by alkoxide-bridged oxygen and nitrogen atoms from the deprotonated ligands and stabilized by MeOH molecules and chloride ions.

Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) has proven effective to reduce tsetse population density in large infected areas where animal African trypanosomosis (AAT) and human African trypanosomiasis (HAT) elimination was difficult to achieve. However, the decrease in mass production of insectary-reared tsetse and the limited but incomplete knowledge on symbiont-trypanosome interaction over time, impede large-scale use of SIT. We investigated the spatiotemporal changes in symbiont prevalence and symbiont-trypanosome interactions in wild tsetse of Sora-Mboum AAT focus in northern Cameroon, collected in 2019 and 2020, to provide insights into the mass production of refractory tsetse.

Endotoxins are components of the outer membrane of bacteria that can become airborne during aerosol-generating work activities and cause adverse effects on workers' health. Filtration is the sampling method recommended by the EN 14031 standard for endotoxin measurements in workplace atmospheres. However, there are still differences in terms of practice regarding certain parameters of the measurement method.

In the field of lung transplantation (LTx), the survival of lung transplant recipients (LTRs) is limited by events such as primary graft dysfunction (PGD), infections, and acute rejection (AR), which promote the development of chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD). Extracellular vesicles (EVs), including exosomes and microvesicles, have emerged as key players in LTx because of their roles in immune regulation, inflammation, and antigen presentation. EVs carry immunologically active molecules such as MHC class I/II proteins, cytokines, and lung self-antigens (SAgs), suggesting their involvement in infections and both AR and CLAD.

Introduction: Pigeon paramyxovirus type 1 (PPMV-1) is an antigenic variant of Avian Orthoavulavirus 1 (AOAV-1) (Newcastle disease virus) with a global distribution that causes lethal infections in pigeon and dove species. AOAV-1's infecting humans normally cause mild, self-limiting conjunctivitis, but since 2003, PPMV-1 has been associated with an increased number of severe and lethal respiratory and neurological infections in immunocompromised persons in the Netherlands, the USA, France, China and Australia.
Methods: PPMV-1's isolated from free-living pigeons and doves across South Africa from 2012 to 2024 were sequenced using conventional or next generation technologies.
