Permafrost degradation is accelerating across the Arctic, posing growing risks to cultural heritage (CH) sites. This study presents the first archipelago-scale hazard assessment of CH to retrogressive thaw slumps (RTS) and thermo-erosion gullies (TEG) in Svalbard, one of the fastest-warming regions globally. By overlaying recent RTS and TEG inventories with the spatial distribution of protected CH sites, we quantify hazard exposure for 55.

Background: Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) encompasses a spectrum of symptoms-including motor, cognitive, and seizure-like manifestations-that are not fully explained by structural neurological disease. Accumulating evidence suggests that comorbid psychiatric and somatic conditions significantly influence the clinical course, diagnostic complexity, and treatment response in FND.
Objective: This study systematically explores psychiatric and medical comorbidities across major FND subtypes-Functional Cognitive Disorder (FCD), Functional Movement Disorder (FMD), and Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES)-with an emphasis on subtype-specific patterns and shared vulnerabilities.

Recent studies of lanthanide bonding have shown that small amounts of metal-ligand covalency can impact bond energies and cause magnetic behavior to deviate from the free ion values. Quantifying covalent bonding parameters is necessary to support the rational tuning of these properties in applications for lanthanides in energy and quantum information science. Here, two measurements of f-electron occupancy in CeBr are reported based on X-ray spectra at the Ce L- and Br K-edges and compared to the corresponding results for CeF and CeCl.

This work aimed to advance the knowledge in the field of eco-friendly dielectrics with applicative relevance for future energy-related technologies. New multicomponent composites were prepared by using a cellulose ether/citric acid mixture as the matrix, which was gradually filled with strontium titanate nanoparticles (5-20 wt%). In this case, citric acid can act as a crosslinking agent for the polymer but also can react differently with the other counterparts from the composite as a function of the solvent used (HO and HO).

The solvatochromic properties of 48 solvents of three benzo-[f]-quinolinium methylids (BfQs) were analyzed within the theories of the variational model and Abe's model of the liquid. The electro-optical properties of BfQs in the first excited state were determined based on the charge transfer process that occurs from the ylid carbon to the nitrogen atom. The dipole moments and the polarizabilities in the first excited state were calculated according to the two models.

Brain metastases (BMs) from bronchopulmonary tumors are a major cause of morbidity and mortality and significantly reduce the quality of life in oncology patients. Their treatment depends on imaging features (size, number, location) and their genetic mutation subtype, small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) or non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In patients with SCLC, prophylactic whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) with hippocampal sparing (HS) is recommended, whereas in patients with NSCLC, systemic targeted therapy is preferred.

We present an alternative to the classical SQUID magnetometric measurements for the First-Order Reversal Curve (FORC) diagram approach by employing differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) experiments. After discussing the main results, the advantages and limitations of the magnetometric FORCs, we introduce the calorimetric method. We argue that, while the results are comparable to those obtained via magnetometry, the calorimetric method not only significantly simplifies the required mathematical computations but also detects subtle or overlapping phase transitions that might be hard to distinguish magnetically.

Background: Post-concussion syndrome (PCS) and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), including Functional Cognitive Disorder (FCD), are two frequently encountered but diagnostically complex conditions. While PCS is conceptualized as a sequela of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), FND/FCD encompasses symptoms incompatible with recognized neurological disease, often arising in the absence of structural brain damage. Yet, both conditions exhibit considerable clinical overlap-particularly in the domains of cognitive dysfunction, emotional dysregulation, and symptom persistence despite negative investigations.
